not trying to cause a fuss here, i love my bold and am so used to it, love all the features and being able to do 100 things at once. also cant wait for the onyx!!

but what does the blackberry have over other similar phones. what can blackberries do that other phones cant.
for example what does BB have over nokias E series, sony erricsons XPERIA's or some of the HTC's. all top phones.

just curious as to what BBs have that they dont, and whats keeping you with RIM over a different phone

Nothing if you really get down to it. Sure it has push email, but unless you are the uber business person who just has to have their emails the second they appear, it's really not that big of a deal. Most phones have email. People make it out to be more than it is.

I certainly think BB's are great phones and they work well (why else would I have one lol), but there are no really amazing features that I couldn't live without. Some say BBM, but who doesn't have some sort of instant messaging client on their phone these days? And do you really know that many people with blackberries in life that you talk to daily? Just seems like people hype things up for no reason.

What's FTW??? I always wondered that... and i prefer bb over a lot of phones for it's efficiency and it's compact. Email, voice quality, keyboard, i can't have a phone that doesn't have an actual keyboard. And the battery life! Battery life is awesome

I have a BB because its the best messaging device for my needs, great keyboard, nice screen, form factor, plays media well for a phone, and even the web browsing gets the job done for me. Other phones that I have owned do maybe one or two things really well, but the other areas of the phone are weak. BB is strong is most areas and doesn't have any killer weaknesses.

Out of all the wireless providers and dozens of different cell phones my BB Bold is the only phone to get good reception at my house.

There are lots of good choices out there now...not just BB.

IMHO, BlackBerries really shine when it comes to *communications*. They are considered by many (most?) to be the best all-around for combined e-mail (superior), text, MMS, IM, and in my experience superior voice quality. Others may do certain things better, but all-around I think BB is the best.

BBs are definitely not perfect - their flaws are well-documented. The complaints you'll hear the most are poor browser, mediocre media player, mediocre camera, outdated OS, and most of all, limited memory.

It's an all-around great device, though. Most are well-designed and well-built with great keyboards and screens.

Perhaps the least-discussed but most-appreciated features are the huge number of nifty little keyboard shortcuts and smart menu options. It's really hard to describe until you've used one for a while and really gotten to understand just how valuable they are. I believe that these are really what make the user experience very pleasant and efficient.

For me, I really equate BB with reliability. I've used Windows Mobile phones and they are cool, but horrible reception and battery life; constantly freezing up.

I've used the world, pearl, pearl flip, curve, storm, and tour. Even when the newer BB's have weird quirks, they are still nowhere near as wonky as a windows mobile phone, imo.

I don't think BBs arenecessarily better than other smartphones. I think a lot of people prefer them because they are reliable and they have various models to fit various tastes. Also, they are heavily used in the business world.
