Quite honestly, I think you might be surprised to find that many people absolutely refuse to use certain products based on others endorsements. It's sad, very sad indeed, but it does happen. Me? I'm going BB10 regardless of who may or may not endorse it.
yes that is sad. Hopefully lots of people are going BB10, I've heard lots of people saying they are ditching iphones etc to give BB10 a try. Thats good news for RIM.

Terrible... just because you don't believe or agree with someone else's views, religion, politics doesn't mean you cant engage in thought full discussion. Thats what happens when you use one brand too long, you become too close minded.

This thread should stay and we should endorse all of the discussions within it.

I love the world of idealist people all seems so good over there...

Too bad the real world doesn't works like that. Religion and politics are bad topics anywhere. And RIM should stay the he11 out of anything resembling a political agenda.

Maybe if the President decided to give away BB phones to all those new welfare recipients he's created in the past 4 years, then it would be hit. Just like in Detroit, when they lined up for "Obama Bucks". It's not like he cares about disrespecting the office, since he went on ESPN to give his March Madness picks. Maybe he can do an executive order declaring that every American should be required to buy a BB10 phone, regardless if they already have a phone or not.
Well that didn't take too long... LOL.

Not to mention the polarizing effects that could have. Dem's vs Gop via smart phones, yikes, that's half potential market gains, yikes! The various strong political opinions on this thread are living proof of that. I'm rather surprised this thread is still live.

Oh lordy. I can imagine some of my right-wing friends and acquaintances going off on it.

"Why would I want that Canadian communist socialist unpatriotic Obamunist phone?"

Sarah Palin posed on the cover of a magazine with BBs a while ago... maybe they could have her and Obama show up and say "BlackBerry is the only thing we agree on."

Have the launch event at a church. That's all it would take to get more press coverage then when Charlie Sheen left 21/2 men.

Some of you are absolutely ridiculous.

You do realize the current POTUS is one of the most beloved presidents in history around the world? He generates more buzz than any other person. Look at his inauguration, it was broadcast around the world and followed by millions from Africa to Europe to Asia. The office of the POTUS is the most powerful office in the world and it's not too far fetched to claim the POTUS is the most powerful man in the world. I don't believe the tea party or anyone else would rip him apart as nobody would paying any attention to them. Yes, the POTUS has almighty influence and yes it would sell BB10 devices.

I would gently suggest that you review Fox News and the Tea Party website.

What about the leader of Canada. Stephen Harper. If they use Obama I would have to buy an Android
    Everybody loves Canada!
More Canadians voted against Harper than for him, and he has a definite reputation among some people of following his own agenda despite what the people want and what would be good for the country. I don't think that there's any significant political figure that doesn't have a large number of people hating them. That's just how politics works. People have opinions, and if you run the country the "wrong" way then they can't just switch countries anywhere near as easily as they can switch phones, so they get angry with you because there's nothing else they can do besides leaving the country.

I don't think it would benefit RIM .......very little- if at all and that is nothing against POTUS. It would be political backlash and as stated, no benefit to RIM. I could see some asking to "boycott" RIM because of it. When the time is right, all RIM needs to do is an advertising blitz to convince faithfuls(whether you own 1 or 15 BlackBerries), newbies that never heard of blackberries-except for breakfast, and those(like me) that use various smartphones and drive home the reason how all of us would benefit from a new BB10 device......whenever possible on all medias. People should be saying after watching so many BlackBerry commercials, "Ok, I'll buy a new BlackBerry if you STFU already, d*mn!" Not a new concept. The important part is the "how to do it and when to do it", IMO.

I don't think it'd be a good idea because of the extreme animosity of conservatives toward him. I also don't think liberals who may be using other phones would suddenly switch because of an endorsement. I think it'd make sense to leak out news of Obama using a BB10 device (if it were true). That way it'd demonstrate it's ready for prime time where it needs to be totally secure, and it wouldn't have the negative reaction that is expected from extremists.
