What contract option do YOU choose?

With the recent removal of 1-year contracts and the uproar that it has caused, I have been wondering what the majority of people choose when upgrading a phone. There is a benefit to a 2-year because you get a large chuck off the phone you get, whereas a 1-year gives you a decent price (usually 70-100 more than 2-year) but one year less of commitment. There also seems to be some stigma about committing to a carrier for 2-years. Some people I have talked to that are upset with this are people that have already been with VzW 2+ years any way. Whats the real reason people hate contracts? I just wanted to get people's opinion's. Doesn't matter what carrier you have...let's talk bout it.

I do 2 year contracts and get the subsidized pricing due to not wanting to throw out mass amounts of dollars on a phone.

I do take advantage of the 14 day trail run on phones...wish it was 30 days, but you can get the idea, lol! Went through a couple Androids that way, lol!

Ultimately though, if you have the money (I don't, 4 kids sucks me dry!) Then pay for phone and don't get stuck in contract is the best way.

2 years as well.

I choose no contract. Granted the absolute newest phones aren't always available with no contract plans BUT I am happy with my BB Curve for $199 and $60/month unlimited EVERYTHING (talk,text,web etc.) with shrinkage that allows my bill to go down $5/mo after each 6 on time payments,so in 18 months my BB plan would be $45/mo for unlimited everything.

I see zero advantage to contracts anymore.

I never really minded the 2 year option because Verizon offered annual upgrades, but that got axed. So I got the tbolt on a one year and this is soon to be axed. I think I'm going full retail next.

No contract/full retail. There is no way I want to be locked into an outrageously expensive 2 year contract just to have some money knocked off a new upgrade. Currently I have unlimited data, web, texting, etc. for only $35 a month on my BB! I don't know how much longer contracts will survive with such attractive no contract offers out there now.

I went with no contract with TMobile USA. 2 year contract was 99.95 per month unlimited. No contract was 79.95 for same unlimited. Full price for phone but save 20.00 month.

I like to upgrade my phone yearly

I always do the 2 year but end up selling that phone in a few months and buying another used or new phone.

unfortunately in Canada vast majority of contracts are 3 years. Usually you can upgrade your phone after 24 months. However if I wanted a 2 year the phone would be very close to retail price so there isn't much point.

i do the 2 years with Verizon. i wish i lived in canada so i could do 3 years with Rogers.

There is no way in **** I would do a 3 year. I'd say 2 year or full retail.

Don't like contracts as I tend to move and the carriers have different strengths and weaknesses in each area, so I go with the best plan that suits my needs.

I tend to keep my phones (and carriers) for a long time (as my Pearl Flip, running TMo's My faves would indicate). I was going to go to TMo's "Even More" no contract plan, (I was waiting for a Tmo to get phone that I liked enough to get rid of my Flip) but now they seem to have killed that as well.

I use US Cellular's Belief plan. Discounted phone for one 2 year contract. Then I accumulate points every month. Every one thousand points can buy one month off the 18 month upgrade time. Some plans will allow an upgrade every 9 months at the contract price.

Here's the best part. No contract renewal after the origional 2 year contract is up.

I've been on. The plan since last fall and have accumulated 8000 points so far. I will be able to buy an early upgrade when the new BBs come out this summer. (If rumors hold true)

I normally choose 2 year as its better value than 18 month contracts but O2 are starting a 12 month upgrade option for customers. Im quite impatient so i am hoping the deals are not to expensive as i can remember the good old days of 12 month contracts.

No contract, as my carrier doesn't require contracts after the first. USCC

2 years and that's long enough. Any longer than that and I'd just save up my money for a new phone.

Not to many votes, but so far it seems that the majority of people like the 2-year option, with full retail being the second choice...
