Long explanation short - it's basically a dashboard of your phone PIM and messaging displayed on your PC/Mac/iOS or Android tablet. If you're familiar with Bridge on the PlayBook, it's somewhat reminiscent of that.

Is it wrong to state the BlackBerry phone basically becomes your cloud server...providing message and file access to any device you chose to share with?

Blackberry blend is a software that connect your blackberry 10 smart phone to another device. These include windows Pc. Mac, and Android tablets OS 4.4 kitkat. With this app you can send SMS, BBM, Email and more. From anywhere at anytime. You need blackberry 10.3 or higher to be able to use this app. So right now you have to wait if you don't have the passport or porche blackberry. This is only for BlackBerry phones. BlackBerry blend won't work on iPhone, Android or windows phone. Hope that help but you can go and research for your self.

It's the software that will let your phone display itself on a computer both pc and mac, android and ipads. From there your can work using these devices as your peripherals.....ie keyboard, screen, mouse etc. When you are finished you simply walk away and your information goes with you. You can also access your phone if it is somewhere else and it is on and connected to a network. If on BES10, it has even more secure features. It's really a great option that goes from a BB10 10.3 device cross platform. People have been saying the others can do this, but they miss the point of cross platform.

I still want bbm on computer without having to have a BlackBerry. Why would I use bbm when other services are on everything?
