Yes, the 9570 has been cancelled.
This actually makes sense as it would be mediocre compared to the LTE Storm, and the close launch time would keep on confusing the general public and give a bad image to the LTE Storm.

    So here's my proposal:
There are rumours that RIM will launch the LTE storm under a different name, and that makes perfect sense.

But, three or four months after the launch of the LTE storm, RIM should launch a midrange or low end touchscreen device, to help get BBs to the masses.

    Specs:
    EVDO Rev A and international 3G (9570)
International and North American 3G (9540), for Canada and for AT&T (but only if there is no exclusivity)
    800MHZ OMAP 4 processor
    QNX BB7
Similar body as the 9550, but with improvements
5MP rear camera, hd video recording
    Higher screen resolution
front camera with video calling would be nice, but this is a lower end device.
And all of the usual suspects (wifi n, Bluetooth, etc)

Pricing: $350 no contract, free on two year.
    Thoughts?

Have to agree with this. 350$ seems a little cheap though

What about for a final BB6 device with the old 600mhz chipset?

There are beginning to be a bunch of cheap Android Touch screens on the market, so why shouldn't RIM push out one?

    grahamf,

This is why I stopped waiting for a 9570...

    Motorola Droid 2 Global specifications:

EV-DO Rev. A and International 3G (GSM and UMTS)
    1.2 GHz TI OMAP3630 Processor
Linux based Android 2.2 OS (Froyo)
Same size as a Storm, but with a side-slideout keyboard
5MP rear camera with dual LED flash
    480 X 854 pixel screen resolution
    Includes Wi-Fi n, Bluetooth, A-GPS, and DLNA
with real Internet browsing including Flash 10.1
plus over 100,000 apps in the Android Market
and with my NE2 discount, it only cost me $149
and most importantly, it's available now (no more waiting)!

And there's even more, but I think you get the point. Over the past few weeks, I have discovered that the Droid 2 Global can do everything my Storm did, and at a much faster speed...

I agree.. At least to hold S1 and S2 users over for 6-9 months.

Being held over is not an option for many. A lot of people only update their device when their contract allows. Most S1 users are at that point where it is time to upgrade to a new phone. I personally know 3 people who when from S1 to Android because there was nothing new.

No chance it would be free with a contract prob $199
No chance its $250 without a contracr prob $499 or $599

I agree with all your proposed specs but i would like a larger screen like 4 inches maybe a lil bigger or smaller
