I love the passport, I love the ecosystem of android, and I don't love slider phones so why not petition BlackBerry to redo the passport for android. I think it'll sell more than the Priv, this way BlackBerry won't need to spend on designing a new phone.

Is it possible to let BlackBerry know about this wish? If so how?

    They know.....

Sadly I don't think, they think that a Passport running Android would sell any better than a Passport running BB10 did. Thus it would only be a waste in resources....

BB at this stage is looking for sales not a list of signatures. BB and other companies know that petitions for them to make a product does not help them much. To companies; this sort of petitions are like people who lament the closing of a local bookstore. But buy books from Amazon regardless.

I wouldn't be surprised if there already was one. The question is will it see the light of day?

If they can get a decent deal on a low number production run, i dont see why not.
But i doubt the thing will even get near a million sales total

How many petitions does it take to change a light bulb?

    None, petitions can't change anything.

Even in the rare event that there are more people than the average Martin O'Malley event that can agree on a way for BlackBerry to do something, there is generally little financial incentive for BlackBerry to go down that rabbit hole and release a BB10 Priv/Android for Passport/BB10 for PlayBook/whatever.

Now, while there was evidence of a Passport - like (NOT a run of the mill Windermere, but rather an Oslo) phone running Android, it seems to be on the back burner. Perhaps it's the square screen, perhaps it's the platform difference (Priv=MSM8992, Oslo=MSM8974), but there's nothing to indicate that it'll be released.

A petition for another DOA, money-losing BB10 handset? Good luck with that.

I am pretty sure it was already done. I believe Google killed the launch due to the look of it on the Square screen. I also think this was suppose to be on the silver addition.

Not sure what the status is on it but I would actually really like that version.

Chen is only interested in making phones that will be profit makers and petitions don't generate revenue. It seems Blackberry already has a game plan: Priv (slider) and Vienna (classic blackberry form factor with a 4:3 aspect ratio). Outside of that Blackberry will watch the sales of their other android phones before deciding on their next move. I don't think Chen is going to release any android blackberry phones that have a 1:1 aspect ratio just because of the belief that developers are not going to make sure their apps work with a non-standard ratio that is only used by one android blackberry.

If we do get a passport like Android blackberry device expect its' aspect ratio to be different.

Personally, I love my Passport and it's hard to really appreciate any other phone.

I'm greatly worried about it's possible demise when I can't use WhatsApp anymore next year, and I think we all agree here, the best option to hold on to our devices is to have full Android run on our Passports and all other BlackBerry 10 devices.

    It might not really help much, but I've made a petition here;

Petition Full Android for BlackBerry 10 Devices: For New Life on our BlackBerry Devices

at least as a place for me to rant about BB10's lackluster app support, but I'm really hoping we can come together, and show our support to this cause.

Best case scenario: someone powerful from BlackBerry will take notice, they assemble their team of hardware and software engineers, and release an Android dual-boot system with the newest coming update.

    God bless.

BlackBerry doesn't care about us consumers; their target audience is the business sector. In fact, they only released the Priv because they figured out that business users need apps as well!

Problem is the Passport is designed as a productivity powerhouse. I think that putting Android of any flavour would be a step backwards.

I'm always noticing how al my Android and iOS buddies are such slaves to their devices, and with my Passport I'm on and right back off it again doing all the same things...the things that people do most of the time on their smart phones...
