Just tried it out and BB Maps now locks on to satellites and tracks location of phone.

I confirm that it only works with bb maps. Even after setting perms on other apps. Oh well. It's a start.

Working for me too...maybe someone has accidently hit the wrong switch or maybe it's a tease... Googlemaps say's gps temporarily unavailable, and it's never said that before. hmmmm...

I can confirm on my BB curve. BB mpas is working. Not sure on google maps yet.

Have to try whrrl and gpsd!

Google maps is not working. At least not for me. Still getting triangulation which puts my location about a half mile away.

I can't confrim that, but I am on 4.5 and it works for me.

I wonder if it has to do with the 4.5.0.97 we are running? I wonder if you have to be on Verizon's official OS 4.5? If anyone else can shed some light on this issue for WackBerry and myself, please let us know

Im actually running .77 official from VZW so I dont think that can be it....but its starting to annoy me that I cant DL this

I am running the Alltel 4.5.0.89 and it works for me. Locked on to 12 satellites and pinpointed me exactly. Works great. For those that know how to install the OS, just go back in as if you are updating the OS and check mark "BlackBerry Maps" for it to install that application. Also, you do NOT have to subscribe to VZNav for it to "unlock" the GPS for BB Maps, which is great!!

Don't download it as the downloadable version doesn't pick and choose which "version" you get (remember, some carriers are on older versions). Use the current version which is bundled in your OS download.
