It simply means gesture is a failure. We bashed home buttons with with gestures. Somehow, the buttons are back now.

Your poll is misleading and unscientific. Crackberry members are heavily skewed towards Z owners when the vast majority of BB subscribers own QWERTY devices. Secondly, there should be the ability to vote for wanting the belt on Q devices and not Z devices. Realistically, this vote should be only open to people who are interested in buying a Q device. They are the only CrackBerry members that should care.
    Good point.

Neither here no there for me,i think BlackBerry needs to focus on marketing, reliability, more than this, the battery in particular is a gripe and glitches in the software though within the last couple months the latter has gotten better. If I hadn't picked up BlackBerry 10, Z line a year ago and didn't know about it perhaps I would have said yes! Personally I can't go back to it.

it is not a matter of past and future. It is about meeting the needs of different types of users.
Just remember that BBOS phones still outsell BB10 phones, so it is blingingly obvious that BB10 needs to adapt in order to overcome this.

Yes for the four buttons. No for the trackpad. The green phone button makes phoning quick, the menu option is handy. So is the back button. The red call button could be replaced by a physical button on the side (eg power like on the Note). I'm not a 10 user (yet) though so my point of view may not be correct or outdated.

If people want it, then why not. I mean, if you don't, then don't buy one. Personally, it's not for me.

Lol I find it so funny that so many on here have been saying how outdated other phones are with buttons on the front and now BB is bringing back their entire row of buttons.

I think they should do a virtual track pad on the screen. And have it set up like the predictive text wear you can turn it on or off.

BlackBerry can add the track pad, the other four butons, the qwerty keys, special keys, other keys, keys, keys and more keys till the screen size is just a single row and i wouldn't care less... but on the all touch devices i don't want to see any buttons or track pad. i like me Z10 the way it is.
    What a great comment!
Yes - it's only about the QWERTY device ... as the nonofficial name Q20 implies.
A fair call to ask not to have it on a Z aka full touch screen device but most of the Z owners who started whinging in the multiple threads either couldn't or don't wanted to read or understand the announcement.
It seems more than 2 lines of text mean for most of the nowadays users tl;dnr

BlackBerry keep moving... forward! Leave those buttons in the past. BlackBerry isn't going to gain new customers and grow market share by digging up the past.

I love the real estate on a big screen... but if I want a keyboard, I would prefer no trackpad or keys. however as BlackBerry CEO, I would definitely launch a phone with one... and calling it BlackBerry Classic would be wicked.

And since you're there... put in a BB7 theme!

Bs that it means gesture failure!! Its taking the best of everything to maximize the user experience. I'll probably only use the trackpad for selecting txt, call buttons for calls and gestures for everything else. If you can program the back button as "hunb" button even better. Hate that you can get to hub in some swipe situations. Button access is perfect. Or... get rid of BlackBerry button and make it hub button.

I want the "phone call" button back.

It's always a scramble to slide from bottom and then pick a "tiny" phone icon to dial - when you need to dial a number quickly.

They should really make the "Phone" icon much bigger in the slide up screen.

All we need is a virtual track pad for text selection/cursor placement. Back and Menu buttons ? We already have those on screen or with a simple swipe. Send and End buttons are unnecessary too, all we need is for the virtual versions of these to be displayed in the traditional positions when a call is in progress for easy access no matter what app you're in imo.

How does a track pad affect screen size on a key broad phone ,its not part of the screen . The track pad is no more in the past than the keyboard and blinking light. Think of a Q10 stretched 1/4 " with the belt between the screen and keypad. Saves space on the screen and number of gestures. No thumb on the screen blocking view when editing, scrolling, cuts down on the number of times and distance thumb moves from keys to screen . With the added bonus of that 1/4 " = bigger battery under it. If the Q10 came out with the belt originally vary few people who have one now would have past on it .but a lot of people did pass on it because of no track pad belt .
