Volume increase
After a few months and chats with Guru's it appears that my Torch 9800 is limited to the maximum 10 setting for this hand set. This is not sufficient.
Other hand sets and providers have had the ability to increase the volume by entering a sequence of letters and numbers.
My Uk Provider o2 tels me this is not possible
Is this possible with BB 8600

Just totally had a Spinal Tap image pop into my head...
Nigel: The numbers all go to eleven. Look, right across the board, eleven, eleven, eleven and...
Martin: Oh, I see. And most amps go up to ten?
Nigel: Exactly.
Martin: Does that mean it's louder? Is it any louder?
Nigel: Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where?
Martin: I don't know.
Nigel: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?
Martin: Put it up to eleven.
Nigel: Elevn. Exactly. One louder.
Martin: Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder?
[Pause.]
Nigel: These go to eleven.

best suggestion I can come up with is find the most loudest ringtone or music you can find and jack it up to 10 to see how that works for ya.

BB 9800 volume
Thanks for the reply I will try your suggestion.
In the meantime I sent my BB 9800 back under complaint hoping they may increase the volume somehow.
Unfortunately they sent me a replacement phone stating they were not able to repair/ investigate the problem in the agreed time period.
Therefore I still have the same problem.
However I feel the volume on this latest phone is fractionally higher

Not sure if on a scale of 1 to 10 if the sound is any lower than something else using a scale of 1 to 20. Isn't just a label? 10 = 20?

I have the 9800.
What is your issue, is it call volume or hearing ringtones
I think the phone might have a sensor for ambient noise because when I get phone calls in noisy locations I can still hear the caller properly - I have it set at 10.
Focus on the phone call, in noisy environments you need to block out the noise by focusing on the call
If that doesn't work plug your earphones into the phone
