    Hi guys,
I currently have a BB Curve 8330 and am not a newbie by any means. I discovered today and yesterday, my BB was recording voice notes by itself!

Now, I'm not going insane. The voice notes app is not set in any convenience keys, nor do I have any sort of keyboard short cut for it. It can't be me accidently pressing the "record" button because it records at exact intervals for approx 10 mins each time. It's like my BB has been hacked and there's a schedule running. It even does it in the middle of the night and the BB is nowhere near my hands. I listened to a lot of the voice notes today when I noticed (I accidently clicked voice notes app when wanting to go into my camera (in the media options of my BB)......it recorded all this stuff happening at work and in my personal life! SO CREEPY.

    Example of the the pattern
    3:42
    3:52
    4:02
    4:12
    4:22
    4:53
    5:03
    5:13
    5:23
    5:33, etc.

Has anyone have this happen to them? Is my BB hacked? Is there someone listening in?

Are you some one important? ... I know that "the man" has the capability to open the mic and listen in.
But I doubt that they would use voice notes. Seriously though its probably just a glitch. Just reinstall your OS. If it happens after that it must be a hardware problem. In the mean time be sure and wear your tinfoil hat!

I am having the same exact problem! It is a little unsettling to say the least. I checked the permission settings for various applications on the device and there is a field labeled "record"; many of which reflected "allow" or "prompt" for this data element. This has generally happened whenever I actually USE the voicenotes application legitimately. For some reason it just randomly continues to record at intermittent times when I'm finished using it...and does not stop until I take out the battery. Even turning it off/on doesn't do the trick. Has anyone else's phone been to the Twilight Zone???

I have the most current o/s available, and I'm not a drug dealer or mafia boss...so I doubt the Feds are all that interested in what me and my friends talk smack about, or the sound of my snoring at night.

Seriously if you guys don't use voice notes and (obviously) want this horror to stop, use Shrink-A-OS to remove the Voice Notes Recorder.

edit: Before anything though, if one of you discovers their BlackBerry has started recording voice without their consent, please copy the contents of the Event Log after the happening as soon as possible (access Event Log by pressing Alt+LGLG). Maybe there's a clue somewhere in the Event Log to help explain what is going on.

Odd, for sure. I thought you could remove that program somehow tho ,but not postive(I thought I saw that in the Blackberry 101 list). That is if you didnt use it yourself, sounds like its just your phone using it on you

Seriously though I would I would do whatever it took to get it to stop doing that . Thats weird !

Indeed, reload the OS and that will surely fix it.

@TKMN21: Scanned through the Event Log, at no point was there interaction with the Voice Notes Recorder. Did your BlackBerry record a voice note by itself again? If true, then did it happen at what point; the Event Log you posted has everything covered from 00:00:01 till 01:31:58 (HH:MM:SS).

Today i discovered my fiances blackberry curve (8330) recorded over 40 voice notes by itself. There were recordings every 10 mins over a span of time from 9:57 pm to 4:48 am. Each recording lasting almost exactly 9mins 53 sec except for one lasting 9mins 54sec. Also the dates on these were July 31 of this year into the early morning of Aug 1. Ive seen that some people on here have had the same problem. Also we can hear her using the phone in some of the recordings such as using the trackball and texting and at no point did she realize that it was recording! There are also no shortcuts on the keyboard or her convenience keys...

I have the same issue and it's driving me insane. It records at spiradic times, sometimes all night when I"m sleeping, sometimes once in a while throughout the day. There is no pattern to my recordings and I've listened to one where I am clearly out of the room away from my phone and it's recording on it's own. I've done everything mentioned above... there is no short cut key, and the worst part is I recently sent my phone in for repairs and got a loaner phone, and the same thing happened on the loaner phone. My phone is now back and is doing the same thing again. Given everything that has happened it has ruled out possible OS flaws, accidental activation, and anything to do with the physical phone itself. Has anyone learned anymore about this, if so, please let me know!!!

iVe had the same thing happen to me too, and more. Please help!!!!
I have had 18 bb's in the past few months, the second I turn it on my pin somehow is discoverable and they delete the sprint or ATT software and use their own. I overheard my neighbor reading my text messages, they take over my calls when I call in to RIM or sprint, I get put on permahold. I have no privacy, they listen in on my calss, blusnarf, bluejack, they stream me, they turn my phone into a mic and listen in on all my conversations. I bbelieve they put me on a BEs or at least keep my BT discoverable, they I'm, and get all messaes and emails forwarded. I need an It admin to tell me how to take back the admin. I can't load 3rd party software. They hijack all of my searches, and I can't look for a job because I can't login o gmail half the time. Can anyone help me so they don't change my software? Sprint has no clue. BB says they can't be hacked into. I have witnesses and I've reported them to fraud internet police, but its never ending, and eating up all my time. Help! I can't read the codes in LGLG. How can I program my phone? How can I get off their sysytem.oh they have me on a wlan and they use wifi to add themselves. Hhhheeeellllppp!

    QUOTE=adorkablerocker;4213631]Hi guys,
I currently have a BB Curve 8330 and am not a newbie by any means.

If I were to hazard a wild guess, I would say that there is a common (common to those having the problem) 3rd party application that is making the wrong program calls; where instead of calling up a native rim function, it's calling up the voice notes recorder instead. I'd guess that it's an accidental programming error.

As others have mentioned, I doubt that hacking is involved; and if so, voice notes would be not the first choice of how I might go about it...
