Visa, MasterCard Offer More Phone Payment Options | TIME.com

Hasn't this already been done by BlackBerry? I thought BlackBerry had their hands deeply engrained in this niche? Sounds like Google is stepping into the ring.

Yep BB had Host Card Emulation first in certain markets like at Tim Hortons but now that Android has the feature with 4.4 Kitkat it will more widespread.

BlackBerry is already certified for Visa pay wave and Mastercard pay pass. It's really up to Visa, Mastercard or banks to make apps now that use it. Unless BlackBerry can make one unified BlackBerry wallet, if you will, to consolidate credit cards for use.

Funny, no mention that BlackBerry has the NFC technology to support this method of payment.

It's different, right now, many companies make you get an NFC sim card to store credentials. This press release talks about a new storage solution that allows people to have their credentials stored remotely through the cloud.
