I've noticed that when I use the Virtual Assistant that it's working but it is not speaking. For example when I give the command to call or what's the weather today, I get no reply as a voice usually speaks back. Has anyone here had this problem as well?

There are options to have it mute or speaking by default.

Also, if you type, it goes mute, assuming you can't talk to it and probably would disturb something if it talks back.

Or could be a bug, in which case you hold the top buttom till you see a red LED and the BlackBerry logo.

Make sure the volume is not lowered. I make the mistake often of trying to use it with the volume set all the way down.

Must be a bug. Volume is turned up sounds on normal. I'm not typing info usually that's when it's silent. Settings is set for voice response is on.

Here's to looking forward to BlackBerry improving the speed of Assistant. Siri still holds the crown there, but Siri has had a lot longer to perfect.
With the speed at which BlackBerry is moving (arguably the innovation leader), I am confident that BlackBerry will soon catch up.
