So I have the unofficial .113 from the web...do I have to downgrade to the last official version before getting this version?

umm, there's an omission to the changelog:
introduced ridiculous color depth reduction, causing banding and an overall much uglier interface.

true, one will just have vzw typed in the info section.

however, you still may be better off with the official, might include some last minute tweaks. Sometimes software is leaked on purpose, look at all the guinea pigs we have on CB! hehe
complaining about what isnt good about 113 will only help them for official.

If they tweaked it at all, it would be a different build number.

I see the bug fixes for the Storm,(which Verizon wouldn't send me and RIm wouldn't comment on) are now posted. The verizon rep told me she'd recieved that list on 3/20 with a guestimated release date of "about three weeks" That would be next week. Anyone taking bets?

Not trying to argue here but rather put something out to ponder over:
For the most part I will agree that the leaked version should remain the same as an official if they are the same number. Again this is all speculation but a possibility.

In the building of the OS they probably know what number they are going to make the next build. Who is to say that they don't already have a "shell" of the build about done when they load it onto a few devices and the "almost" done build doesn't manage to find its way out the door unknowing to the one carrying it out the door that it had about 7 or 8 more little tweaks that needed to be done to it prior to getting pushed over to the carrier.

Keep in mind now that if you open up the vendor file which is installed as part of the 4.7.0.113 OS install the file is more or less empty. Now the vendor file that will get released for the official 4.7.0.113(is that is indeed the official) will have all of the vendor information in it. I know it is small but non the less it is a change in the overall file.

I was just on the phone with Verizon tech support, and they claim to know nothing about any new update, or any coming out anytime soon! They said, they can only release one when RIM releases one, so any speculation is unwarranted! Or at least, that is what I was told today...

Overall, I'm a lot happier with .113 than .75, but it still has a couple of issues that I think should keep it from being official.

The color banding will upset a LOT of people if this is released, and I (along with some other people I've seen reports from) can't watch a video I record on my phone if it's more than a minute or so long. It just crashes.

Personally, I'm satisfied with .113, but I don't think its ready for official release. If it is, we'll spend the next month wading through a never ending flood of "This release sucks," and "I still hate my Storm" threads!

    No thanks

After reading this post I had to call my friend who is a device tester for Verizon, and what he told me is that they are testing .113 on the devices, but they have run into a few various bugs, and are waiting on RIM to get back to them with fixes on them.
So i wouldnt hold your breath, but at least we can feel comfortable knowing .113 is a serious version.

Verizon doesn't do ANYTHING but TEST. RIM writes the OS and yes all new OS's build on their predecessors. That's NOTHING new.

Just to add onto this, Verizon is the only one that can release the OS. RIM has no part in when to officially release an OS for a phone. Like VZWRocka said, they just write the OS and send it to the carriers. Then the carrier does testing and if it's up to par they can release it for an official OS.
