just saw this on Viigo courtesy of Matt Cameron/BlackBerry Cool

all Verizon customers will have to do is sign in with our PIN and BOOM we'll have all of our contacts! this is great, in addition to DM.

FINALLY for BlackBerry phones, the REAL smartphones!

google sync allows for a contact list & calander sync to an email address, and more reliable, not mention, free too, and works for blackberrys of all models too.

So, it's March 9. Any sign of this yet???

Granted, I do at least a weekly backup via DTM, but this will be a nice quick secondary backup for my contacts.

Yes I was curious about this myself. Checked VZ Apps and it is not listed there yet either.

Wondering if this will be pushed to our phones?

Judging from Verizon's history with OS v5.0, I'm not counting on seeing this anytime soon. Will it be free for Verizon customers, or will they charge an extra fee for it?

I called them and according to two people they had no clue of it and they both said they didnt see anything in their computers about it. I guess it is not going to come out just like 5.0 for the tour.

Actually Backup Assistant is free for all Verizon customers, wether they have "My Verizon" or not. And it is coming for the BB's soon. The Tour will be the first to get it.

Yeah, it used to be that you had to have a VZW online login to get it free, but they changed that. If you go on to the VZW website for Backup Assistant it says just that, no cost (besides our BB data plans of course).

Backup Assistant for the RIM devices is not a rumor, it is a fact, and will be coming very soon. As I said the Tour will be the first to get it. I will not give a date as we all know how VZ is with stating one date and then making customers wait. When VZW announced the end of using cellbrites in the stores (except for pic transfer for a $20 fee) they also announced backup assistant for the RIM devices.
Believe me or not (I know how this forum is ie. Tour 2 ) you will see that my info on this is accurate.

I hope you're right about that. This is an upgrade that I am most definitely looking forward to. It would be great if things were just backed up without me having to think about it.

Appears to be available automagically with the 5.x OS upgrade.

Still cannot find another way to get it if you don't upgrade your OS right away.
