Knew the slider was announced. Didn't know the passport 2 was also on the radar. Was waiting for the slider to upgrade, but now having doubts with the passport 2 on the horizon. Looks like I'll need to upgrade the wife's device, too.

Why bother with Passport 2? It's not like the current one is breaking sales records.

Maybe the Passport 2 could have a 4:3 screen so as to not be so wide. The square screen format is very limiting.

Disagree. Have the passport and won't go back to my s3, ip 5s or my z30. For emailing, web browsing and remote support the 1:1 screen rocks.

Limiting for what? Watching movies on a small screen?

"OK,.. shut it down people! This mobile phone just isn't the optimal movie watching device... why bother."

    Lol jk

The square screen is limiting because the resulting device is too W I D E. A 4:3 profile results in a decent size screen in a body that is not so wide. Not talking about watching video's but rather how the device is used and fits into your hand.

It may not be Braking any sales records at the moment, but it has been winning design awards and that's a good place to start.
I personally would like to see a 4 -3 all touch. Same dimensions, same or up graded specs. I would definitely buy that phone

I'd rather have them focus their resources on a different form factor that could actually grab mass market, instead of one that has so far proven to be niche at best. Not saying the PP is bad, I like it a lot. But BB needs to keep experimenting.
