Useless Blackberry
The title is not as bad as it seems. Verizon said I could trade my Storm in for a Tour due to all my faulty and replaced Storm's over the past couple of weeks. My questions is this, I have another regular phone (a Voyager) that has service and is active, on my account so, is it possible to go ahead and swap my storm out for the tour and have verizon replace the voyager with the storm without any data plan or internet service (i.e. can I activate a BB without internet and eamil and all that data, useless BB)?

Verizon requires a BlackBerry data plan on ALL BlackBerry devices activated on their network. There is no getting around this.

They wont do it but if you swap a phone say
swap storm for the tour
do a ESN swap (tour to the voyager)
downgrade to take off your data plan
THEN swap the voyager to the tour or storm
you wont have to add a data plan.

ok so let me get this straight your wording confused me.
" is it possible to go ahead and swap my storm out for the tour and have verizon replace the voyager with the storm "
you can't keep your storm if your going to swap it out for a tour.
and you want to replace your existing voyager with the storm that your going to swap out for a tour?

you can change esn on your verizon accout online. but the esn can't be used on another phone number. it has to be deactivated first to be activated on another number.

I'm really trying to figure out a way to keep my storm even if I swap it out for a tour, just in case I don't like the tour and want to go back. Will they give me 30 days to return the tour, like a brand new contract, and get my storm back if i don't like the tour?

All I can say is to give the tour a shot... I've tried both, through friends who have one or the other, in my considerations for what to do when I upgrade, eligible now. I don't like the touch screen on the storm, it is not the same touch technology that is in the iPhone or even in lesser devices, forget the bugs in the new OS, the storm launched what, two years ago as the 9500 and is now in it's 3rd gen, it has had a touch screen "upgrade"--if you can call it that--and still isn't the same touch technology that you can get elsewhere! The OS in the Tour will provide all the features of a smart phone with a tactile keyboard... The screen might be smaller, but the overall functionality of the device is improved IMO. Btw, I'm still using my old 96MB mem, slow processor having 8330 but I'm running 5.0 just to keep my eyes happy 'til the Tour2 with trackpad drops. I don't know how much I will use wifi, but I want a faster berry. I said that to say this, unless you have recently torn through multiple defunct 9550s with the improved memory, the Tour is going to be an upgrade to your old and troublesome storm because the mem is greater and the processor is faster...
