I just bought my wife a mint 9780 from a buddy for 100$ SCORE! Now we have her tmo 9700, still in good condition but os6 just isn't to hot on the 9700. I have a 9650 and 8530 with vzw as my carrier, I want to replace the curve with the bold. Can you use a tmo phone with vzw service, do I need to unlock it and how???

It cannot be done. The 9700 is a GSM-only device, and VZW is a CDMA carrier. The networks are incompatible.

No, because the 9780 is GSM and Verizon is CDMA carrier.

No big deal, I use my 9650 mainly, I've already tried the storm 9530 and switched right back to the curve the next day! No thanks!

what are you going to do with it now that you cant use it on your network? flip it....

You can't because Verizon is on a CDMA network and TMobile is on a GSM network.

As a general rule...if it doesn't have the carrier stamped on it that you want to use it on...don't buy it.

Should have done more research...but plus 1 for snagging a 9780 for 100 dollars! Does your friend have a literal crack habit? Just wondering as that is an insane price!
