Updating device software....do I have to reset everything?

Just received an email about an update and I have a Curve 8330. When I update my device software, how much do I have to reset? Are all of my applications going to be safe on my phone and still be there? Do I have to reset all of my ringtones for my profiles and contacts? Don't want to do an update if it's not going to benefit me and I have to redo all of this stuff.

You will have to reset/register all of your 3rd party apps. Most, if not all of your OS settings will carry over in the backup/restore process.

Your applications may be deleted off your device when you update. I am not completely sure on that.

+1.It's also a good idea to make a backup before upgrading.
