I'm thinking the renewed target of the enterprise by Chen is going to bring back the trackpad (physical/ virtual ) with the next high end qwerty. I believe he mentioned at the end of the call that 80% of the subs are enterprise. He needs them to move upgrade cycle to BB 10 in 2014 and beyond. 10.2 will bring alot of the functionality missing from the legacy OS, the addition of the trackpad will help the enterprise upgrade cycle. With the addition of the trackpad, a significantly larger screen can be used for the next qwerty. I think your going to see it.

I'm a q10 user, and I don't miss the trackpad at all, but it's obvious many do.

I really want them to release a tablet which would make sense if they are focusing on enterprise.

Looks like this rumour was right... Foxconn will design the low-end phones...
But the devices will still be owned by BlackBerry, right?

How different is Foxconn's relationship with BlackBerry than it is with Apple?

Yes, apparently instead of licensing the OS, I think they'll just ask Foxconn to come up with some solid internal design which is compatible with QNX and BlackBerry will design a nice case for it.
Apple is doing what BlackBerry will keep doing for the high end phones, but goes even further by designing some of their own components. They give the recipes to Foxconn who then builds the phones.

This is a good alternative to licensing BlackBerry 10. BlackBerry gets to put it's name (and its name only) on the devices running its OS while offloading some of the costs of manufacturing. It also maintain total control over what goes out under its name. Hopefully, once BlackBerry gets its footing back in the market, it can also begin to make some custom component changes.

Could this be the new qwerty model we are talking about?
I'd Rock this BlackBerry with Trapezoidal Keyboard - N4BB
If only they increase the key size.

Could be, but it only makes sense if it reduces the keyboard size.

Unfortunately no. That branch was for the Caf, Kopi, C- series, so we'll have to wait for a leak of 10.2.2 or 10.3 in order to see some new hardware supported.

How come there is no news about QNX10. I thought it was supposed to be released pretty soon unless they are going to discuss it at CES.

What i expect from future QWERTY BlackBerry phone:
    1. Big display: 3.5 and above.
    2. Better battery
    3. Good speakers (similar or better than Z30)
    4. Competitive price
I do hope Windermere addresses these issues.

Correct. The cancellation of Cafe series has provided the perfect cover for BlackBerry to prepare and lock down new device hardware without too many leaks of information. The current leaks point towards the C series (4.7" mid-tier hardware), whereas rumour is BlackBerry are working on a new high end device to replace the Z30 which surpasses the specifications of the rumoured C series.

With all the focus being on Foxconn and low end devices, BlackBerry just may surprise the world with a competitive high end offering this year.

I'm feeling like the next high end will be a slider. If they're focusing on business I don't think professionals would want to lug around anything as bug as the Z30. I think we'll see a Z10 form factor device with a sliding keyboard with updated specs and potentially a few other bells and whistles.

I think we're unlikely to see a slider at this stage. The Z30 has been the most popular device in my organisation, making me think that would be an ideal target size. The Z30 really isn't that big to "lug" around. If they shave 1mm or so off the thickness, and make it a touch lighter, I think it will be a winner. Wishful thinking maybe.

Removable is always nice - however I've found that the battery life on the z30 is so good that I would very rarely need to consider a battery swap. If the successor to the Z30 has equal or even higher battery life, that would be amazing

I do have a Z30 and at times it lasts for about 10 hours which is not enough and it's a headache to get a replacement even under contract for a reason like bad battery life.

Wow really? I recently moved from Waterloo last week and I only ever saw one Z30 in the wild, and my organisation that I work for in Toronto is all Z10. This is likely cuz everyone jumped and got the first BB10 they could grab. But nice to see Z30s are popular somewhere.

The following information comes straight from the OS. It is my own interpretation based on configuration files and libraries. The closer we are to the launch of a device, the more info we have. Some families share specs with older platforms and might be split later on.

Some devices might belong to different series, depending on who you talk to (marketing, dev, Thorsten's nephews, Hans). So don't be surprised if some models belonging to the AQ series switch to the Whiskey series all the sudden.

Also, usually, as we get closer to a release date, devices get assigned a R number and specs don't change that much after that. All the other devices are still at an early stage of development.
