is it confirmed for the Passport to have 2.3+ GHz quad-core Krait 400 - Adreno 330?
    Thanks in advance
Yes, we just don't know which exact model of the 8974 is going to be used. Knowing BlackBerry, it will be the lowest clocked version.

they were "not conservative" with ram (3GB is more than good), so they could use the MSM8974(AB) as you reported on the first page...or, at least, i hope.

Any sighting of LTE band 12 in the Classic or the Passport? It's presence would virtually guarantee that BB's still making phones for TMO customers. But if it's not in there, that wouldn't be the end of the world either, as even the G3 doesn't have it.

I believe they'll be doing what they do with their past phones on ShopBlackBerry.com. They'll be compatible with all carriers. I hope they even put it up on SBB at least.

Well, it's been confirmed, it's going to be an underclocked 800 (8974AA) and not faster versions of the chip. I'm told they've tested revisions with the 801, but decided against it for various reasons.

    Let's call that speculations:
    • Too expensive
    • Too power hungry
    • OS not compatible with eMMC 5.0

S801 can support older versions of eMMC. No problem there

They've been so wrong in the past that I'll wait for confirmation, but it's one of these things that's difficult to detect in the OS unless a special profile is built for a specific amount of RAM per example.

I've been hoping for the same. Some things to look forward to shortly though are the Security Summit on this coming Tues, July 29 where John Chen will be there. Hopefully he will whip out the Classic again and we will make more discoveries.

Also, the 10.3.1 dev OS will hit within the next few weeks and its focus is on bringing compatibility with the Classic's trackpad/hard keys to BB10. I imagine we'll find out a lot in August. The November launch isn't that far away.

Any word on whether the Passport is going to have separate AT&T and Canada variants? I just moved to the US and am trying to figure out if I should wait for AT&T to launch it or pick up the version launching in Canada.

I think it's been said in this thread that there's only one GSM variant for NA? I'll have to look again. But even that notwithstanding, Canadian carriers have started using LTE band 17. So if BB puts that band in their Canadian variant (which they should...hopefully,) then that will be AT&T compatible.

Come to think of it, it kinda makes sense there would be one variant: AT&T, Rogers and I think Bell use b17. Rogers, Bell, Telus, TMO, AT&T use b4. I kinda doubt BB would put out a separate NA variant just to segregate the Canadian b7, and then one for UMTS 1700 too?

Of course, we can theorize all day until something gets released for sale. But unlike the Z30, there are other carriers that will benefit from b17 this time.

If you already moved to the US then get a Mobile Share plan from AT&T and get the Passport on-contract. I brought my Q10 down from Canada, and because it was a Telus phone the bands matched perfectly with AT&T.

That would be the third best option (after 1. AT&T offering it directly, and 2. BlackBerry selling an AT&T-compatible version unlocked,) but for the Z30, they never released the version that was AT&T bound, so this option that's present for the Q10 and Z10 isn't really there for the Z30. But let's hope that's not the norm going forward, but a one-time aberration.

From what I have heard AT&T has a large number of corporate accounts, so they will probably carry the Passport to keep them happy. T-Mobile doesn't have the same customer needs.

Thanks, I know that early Passport plans called for separate variants, but it looks like those have been consolidated now.

I am hoping to buy it outright from AT&T once it launches here because contracts are a pain for international students without SSNs.

So 10.2.2 has finally surfaced; not much visible, maybe something under the hood. I do notice that the 10.2.2.1532 Z30 radio has the wtr5/wtr6 setup as 10.3, but I'm not sure what to make of that.
