The Q10 will not be EOL yet. The Passport is the only device that will get 10.3 officially to my understanding. Shortly after, they will release the Classic with 10.3.1 along with all the outgoing models (Z10/Q10/Q5/Z30/etc.).

10.3 is probably focused on getting the Passport launch right and making sure the touch keyboard works well. They will then work on bringing compatibility to all other models with 10.3.1 as well as to bring trackpad support with the Classic.

No one's saying that people would have to use it but it is becoming a standard across Windows and Android and even the Z30 has it. Would just be wrong not to.

Is usb otg that big of a deal? If your use case is kb and mouse then it's much easier and more convenient to use blue tooth keyboard and mouse. Works perfectly fine on my z10.

That's another use case but definitely a valid one. In that case you would require otg support.

I think it will support USB OTG. Just maybe not USB OTG and Slimport at the same time. Meaning you can't use the USB port on the adapter for OTG.

EDIT: just checked and Nexus 5 uses Slimport and support USB OTG.

ProVoice is a VOIP API that will be openend up to third party developers. ProVoice encapsulates a set of audio interfaces and codecs that allow you to add high quality full duplex audio support in your applications – the type of high quality audio that you can find in our BBM application, for example.

WhatsApp will benefit most from using this as it is preparing it's Voice-over-data service. It will allow them to harness a full-duplex VOIP engine at high quality sound (think BBM Voice) without having to license or create a full duplex VOIP stack themselves or run it through their servers, all of which by the way is very costly.
The other VOIP apps like VIBER have developed their own software stack which runs on their servers so I don’t think they’ll make use of it.

It’s basically BBM Voice capability up for grabs…

What I'm hoping, is that BlackBerry will adopt the OPUS codec for their VOIP calling. Currently they're using a wideband like AMR-WB or super-wideband codec like G.722.1C which are both quality codecs but they're beginning to show some cracks at the seams.

Opus is a royalty free codec that supports constant and variable bitrate encoding from 6 kbit/s to 510 kbit/s, frame sizes from 2.5 ms to 60 ms, and certain sampling rates from 8 kHz (with 4 kHz bandwidth) to 48 kHz. It's super low latency (22.5ms) which makes it perfect for real-time high-quality audio. It also automatically adjusts bitrate encoding to the available bandwith while staying low-latency.

It's a super codec and I'd love to see BlackBerry get it in their phones.

Funny you should mention this, I was just looking at a file and saw that their software controller supports the following codecs:

• Opus
• Celt
• G711A
• G711U

Then I checked further and saw the Opus and Celt enc/decoder
