I recall the Press Release for the Classic mentioned the screen will be 3.5inch rather than the Q10's 3.1inch. When you are seeing details that suggest the Classic is merely a gussied up Q10, are you seeing evidence of this 3.5 screen?

I am concerned that they have backed it down to 3.1 since the press release...

So far, the internals appear to be similar to that of the Q10. The WiFi hardware is the same, although what would really be definitive is a Q10 radio (which will come with the SDK). Furthermore, the screen is definitely 720x720, and the .public files for the Classic give it (and Khan) the same screen size as the Q10. It might just be a placeholder, but I have a feeling BBRY reneged on the 3.5" plan.

Probably a repeat of the STA100-1/STA100-5 business. Except both of these should come out, not just one.

The good news is that the Classic will have a new modem with more bands. The bad news is that it will be based on the ancient 8960. This sounds more and more like a recycling exercise to use all the components they couldn't use in the Q10.

The Z30 radio is bloated due to new firmware, but wtr6 doesn't appear to be for new devices, just for the A-series.

Well, either they're importing some very old files (R017 product number!) or Qualcomm is recycling some of it's numbers, like they did when introducing the SnapDragon families.

I doubt it's the second one, but the first one doesn't make sense either. As for what it is, my guess is that's it's a primordial device from back when this was all BBX. On a Torch.

Edit: Since the 9860 had a Snapdragon S2 inside of it, this might not be so far-fetched.

I've had time to check the files and it's definitely ancient. Could be the PlayBook 2 or some dumb tablet project they're trying to revive. That thing doesn't need a lot of horse power if it only displays content broadcast by Fuse, but that chip can't handle qHD, so maybe those blocks are placeholders for now...

Let's hope it will be efficient(fast enough),with a HUGE battery and a great build quality. After that,if they'll polish it,it would be better but not so fundamental..

I see what you mean now... They've included the firmware for 2 different modems in the Z30 radio. Maybe they'll transition to wtr6, maybe it's a mistake or maybe some models of the phone can somehow use both. I'm not a radio specialist (and don't want to be), so I'm not sure how the hardware uses those files.

Perhaps. Should be interesting to follow over time.

By the way, I think BlackBerry finally killed off the Colt. Even though it would choke on 10.1 (let alone anything else), the m5730 radio's supported device list is now just the London.

And if it is not, then it means no beast touch device this year?

My take is that the Ontario project has not moved an inch this year. They've focused on Windermere and on the Classic Bold for 10.3 and both should land at around the same time 10.3.1 launches since they don't seem to be interested in launching Windermere earlier (I'm told). I don't expect a mid/high-end touch device until 2015. The Z3 LTE will be a low-end replacement for the Z10.
Hopefully, they've started work on a high-end 64bit touch device in a different branch of the OS, because while most people don't care much about the internals of their qwerty device as long as it gets the job done, the touch market is much more competitive and you need some bells and whistles to be in the top 5 smartphones of the year.
