Now that twitter has photo filters, and of which im sure will be upgraded in the future to include more filters...Where do you think the hype of instagram will stand?
Yes the filters are not yet ready for the blackberry twitter app but while we might not need it on BB10 because of the integrated photo editor, im sure it will come.

for me it has no bearing because i dont use the "twitter for iOS, android or BB apps" And again there is more to instagram than just filtering photos.

I'll continue to use Instagram. For my uses Instagram > twitter. Honestly, I think the twitter hype is dying down ( well at least it is for people in my circle).

Instagram isn't just a filters app. It's a social network on it's own that also gives you the ability to post its pictures to other networks.

Instagram is so much more than filters. It is also a disease/addiction that people have. It's really sick. I have one but post once every few weeks or so. But I know people with thousands of pictures, everything from their food, to their windshield, to raindrops... mostly sh1t no one cares about. But it has become this world where people are going places and doing things JUST to show people on Instagram. It is a social network, the most simple of them all except for Twitter. I think more people are comfortable using Instagram because it lets them feel "artistic" and provides the opportunity for their peers/friends to heap praise on their "work." I've also noticed that lots of times, people who Instagram a lot don't understand Twitter or how people use it.

I prefer Twitter to Instagram, because I prefer to be entertained by the written word over a filtered photo of a Starbucks coffee cup.

Twitter's new filters are nice, I have them on my new iPod touch's Twitter app, but I don't see how they will alleviate anyone's desire to click on that brown camera app icon social network.....

Congrats you just described every social network ever created.

Twitter isn't just a social network now either though. And how much social networks does it allow again? facebook, mixi(japan),weibo(china), it no longer supports twitter integration and maybe just my personal opinion but i think you can upload photos to facebook from any fb app, and it has tons more applications out there with many more filters than instagram so i find it just another social network app.

I think you may have missed the point. Again, Instagram isn't just an app that applies filters. There is an entire social network that exists on its own that people share their photos on. These people can share only via Instagram or share selected photos on other networks they belong to as well. It's like how Twitter and Facebook are two different networks, but there are ways to selectively post your tweets as status updates too. Or like how you can post foursquare check-ins to Facebook and Twitter. Or not.

This is different from something like say Instaphoto for BlackBerry, which is just a filters app (they have some good ones too!). You can post to Facebook and Twitter, but they do not have their own network ie. there is no Instaphoto site or app where you view and share photos with others.
