Today my blackberry data plan kicked in (i'm on Orange) and I've been experiencing the wonders of twitter through my curve(8900). Its constantly updating and notifying me every 2 minutes that someone's added a new tweet, damn ashton kutcher and jason manford. WIth it constantly updating and always on, will this use a shed load of my data allowance? Is there anyway the application can close or do i have to keep it running once downloaded? I've pressed menu and close but it still remains in the menu bleeping away...

Open Twitter. Press the Menu button. Select Options. Uncheck the box next to Automatic Tweet Refresh. Or leave the box checked and change the Refresh frequency.

Its also best not to have it update all the time otherwise your battery life goes down the drain

Also, if I upload a picture via twitpic on my blackberry, does this count as a picture message or merely data usage?

Just data. Anything on the Twitter app will only use data.

On this subject, have you noticed a drastic change in your battery life since installing this app? I do not have mine set to auto updates, nor do i check too often and my battery life has dropped quite a bit.
