Hello, i just got a new HP DV4 Vista Laptop and when i try to sync my Sprint 8330 it starts and just abrubtly ends without any error message. the desktop manager does recognize my phone because the pin appears in the bottom left hand corner. The help section says to turn off yout Anti-Virus and i completely uninstalled my Norton's and it still doesnt work. My bb is using firmware 4.5.0.56 and desktop manager v4.5. i think this happended with one of my other computers but i cannot for the life of me remember how to fix it. if anyone can offer any help i would greatly appreciate it. thanks

    Is this Vista 64 bit?

Also try upgrading to DM 4.6. You shouldn't have to turn off Norton. Try changing the usb port it is connected to after a system reboot.

I've seen this a few times at work. Does it seem to crash when the calendar sync portion starts? If so, I've had some success with just setting the sync to have the desktop overwrite the device. Other times I had to delete the calendar databases on the device using the backup/restore utility (I think that's where it was). Other times I had to uninstall the desktop software, remove users settings, and re-install it. Sometimes it was a combination of everything.

(Standard backup and data loss prevention precautions should be taken. We're talking about overwriting your device data.)

Also, 4.5.0.56 seems like an older version. Might want to upgrade to a newer OS revision. (I think .77 is available for Sprint; .89 is available from Alltel (which can be installed if you delete the vendor.xml file - http://forums.crackberry.com/f52/new...nguage-106355/).)

Yeah, My calendar will not set up. It (DM) offers Yahoo (?) or ASCII. At least my Outlook syncs. IMHO BB Calendar sucks and I am going to look at 3rd party apps. This is one area where Palm has it all over RIM. But, the Curve remains far superior to anything Palm has out.

When I first received my BB Curve 8320 from Tmobile, I tried to install the software on my dell Inspiron 1420 with vista premium. It would not install, I took the software and loaded it on my Gateway Desktop with XP and everything worked like a charm. No problems at all. Hope this helps or you have the issue squared away by now.
