I swung in to t-mobile to check out the 9900 (att never has it on display). First of all sweet phone! I just bought a 9860 off contract, but if it isn't knocking my socks off I'm selling and going bold. The sales man was a nice guy that explained to me that the bold was BB first touch phone. ???? What ever. He did try to sell me an android but I'm an opinionated know it all so he didn't get to far. The point is don't get torque up with phone jockeys pointing you towards something other than BB, they don't know anything more about phones just the one they're using. He also said alot of people had been asking about BB the last month. He didn't understand why. I do!! Just a little positive in a see of trolls on this Site. :

Not sure if its funny or sad that he thinks the bold is the first touch from BlackBerry. Probably more sad then anything.

But it does say a lot...

In all fairness, these latest OS7 devices are the first touchscreen BlackBerries sold by T-Mobile. The Storm and Storm2 were VZW exclusives, and the original 9800 Torch was an AT&T exclusive.

I actually find it more common than not, mores to pity, that most "sales specialists" either stay away from the BlackBerry line-up altogether or their product knowledge on BB could fill the back of a stamp. Many a time I wander into either a T-Mobile store or AT&T to play with the new devices and I have either the iPhone or some type of Android CRAMMED down my throat even after I have already told the "specialist" I have been an avid BB user for 8+ years now. It is not uncommon for sales personal to push what they use/know, that only makes sense. However, a real sales pro will actually listen to what the consumer wants/needs prior to even demonstrating a device. It would be nice if each retail outlet had a BB specialist whose primary function was to demo the BB. The repeat BlackBerry consumer generally knows what they want and need however a novice to the product definately needs to be shown the features and benefits of the device. Sad part though is the more often than not the sales staff in most carrier's stores are novices themselves and until that weakness is corrected BB will continue to struggle for market share.

I think RIM needs to market. What marketing that is I don't know but it is up with to them to let people know. I just don't think your going to get much different than what is the hot 30 second spot. RIM gotta play the game.

If you are a salesperson there is little reason to try to sell BlackBerry right now. The potential for it to be returned from a less than thrilled customer is pretty high. When a customer walked into any of my stores and became interested in something I told my sales people to sell them on the interests they already have. Convince them to buy what they already want. Why should they try to sell people on something most obviously do not want?

Marketing is key and has been lacking... Once OS10 comes out they will need to market the you know what out of it's advantages...

That is a ridiculous statement. BB phones are no more app to disappointed than the androids he was pumping. My buddies replaced his 3 times. Matter of fact he was demonstrating how tmobiles service work on his DROID and the browser locked up. My thought was try it again it will work. That is the nature of the beast and so is people being disappointed that their electronic device isn't perfect. Different thread please.

If the potential for it to be returned is "pretty high," then I would say the the likelihood that YOUR representatives didn't qualify the customer to determine which product would best suit their needs is pretty high. That, topped with unwise counsel on your part may seem to be working for you, but don't be fooled into thinking that NOT providing customers a clear choice and education is doing them a favor.

Updated on the 9860. Great phone! The videos and reviews do not give this thing justice at all. The browser is wicked fast and the phone construction is awesome. beautiful piece of equipment. Screen typing I'm not sure. Give it a month I guess, but anyone wondering as I was if updating from OS6 to Os7 devise is worth it, it is.
