There my be just a tiny spec of dirt stuck in there. Try breaking it loose with something that helps you get a good grip. Place some type of thin rubber between the ball and your finger... perhaps a piece of a wide rubber band, or one of those flat rubber mats used to help open jars in the kitchen. You just need something that grips the ball better than your dry finger. Good luck...

Mine wouldn't scroll left and right on the screen but the ball would physically move left and right. Got a new trackball and all issues were solved!
