Hi, I've been browsing the crackberry website for about a month now. I am with T-Mobile and was planning on getting the 8900 until I saw that the 9700 (BOLD 2) would be released this month. Truth is I need a new phone asap, my G1 is deficating on my soul. I am basically debating whether to but the 8900 next week or wait until black friday to buy the 9700. Honestly 3G access isn't that important to me as I have wi-fi both at work and home all day. Is there any other features that put the 9700 above the 8900, minus the track pad? I do have big hands and very poor eyesight, so the smaller imprint and smaller screen, metric wise, isn't as appealing to me as it would be to others. Kind of trying to get a basic pros vs cons, 8900 vs 9700 list going to help me and possibly others decide.

The 9700 has the faster processor and will most likely be around longer since its just been released.

I'm just guessing that since the 8900 came out before the 9700 the 9700 will prob be around longering meaning maybe get more os upgrades.

What the 9700 has over the 8900:

    1.Faster Processor
2.New OS (even though the 8900 will get an OS update soon after or possibly before)
    3.3G
    4.Trackpad
    5.Sexier design

Overall the 9700 will be the best of what BlackBerry devices have to offer. It'll only cost a few bucks more than the 8900 so in my honest opinion the 9700 will be the device to get. I played with a dummy 9700 unit yesterday I must say that the typing on the 9700 is better and easier on your finger tips vs the 8900. It'll be out just under 2 weeks, I would wait for it.

Thank you for the replies. I'm glad to hear about the ease of typing, which is one of my hangups about the 9700. Has anyone tested a live phone? I'm curious about the screen itself. As to how clear it will be consider the smaller physical size.

iAMtimmah: The scree is the same size of the 8900, same resolution as well. Though somehow it appears to be crisper/brighter.

@s2kneSs: I feel dumb, I assumed the 9700 was smaller but after your reply I researched and they are the same size. Looks like Ill be fighting the Black Friday rush and missing a few hours of work so I can pick it up!

iAMtimmah: Haha I would probably do the same and say I had the flu. Go to local T-Mobile store and see if you can get your hands on a dummy unit as I did. it feels great in hand.

Just came back from the T-mobile store, no dummy phone. But I did get to compate the 8900 to the 8520. I have to say, the track, while cool and all is really going to take time to get used to. Not as responsive in my opinion compared to the track ball. And the pad on the live phone kind of flopped side to side. Has anyone had issues with the pad?

iAMtimmah: I also noticed that the trackpad on the 8520 seemed kinda wobbly but the one on the 9700 was intact. Bummer, I thought they would have had a dummy unit since the corporate kiosk at a near by mall had one.
