Design wise it is a qwerty keyboard, not a ripoff pere se. However the scallop shape of the keys seems to be, but the biggest flaw in the op post is that the keys are not curved as a whole upwards. They are relatively straight across left to right. The BlackBerry keyboard has the v and b keys lower than the z and $ keys. That is where the BlackBerry keyboard wins. That gentle curve makes it more efficient to use.
It is an interesting design. If it could feel balanced like the Torch it would be a winner.
