So seems to be a bit of a trend. Hopefully not just releasing at one location though.

    Where are you located?

I didn't realize there was already a thread started on this in the Q10 forum. Some people in there have said they have been told that theirs will ship tomorrow - from Ontario to Vancouver - but someone else said he was picking his up in Ottawa.

Admittedly, I'm kind of nervous as to how well-received this will be in the Canadian market. While we're naturally "home turf" for Blackberry, we also have 3 year contracts (increasing the likelihood that hopefuls may still be under contract) and ailing concerns whether this would be worth a 3 year contract (+price tag) when we consider that Blackberry still has this "dead" or dying label attached to them in the eyes of much of the general public.

Seems like most of the interest would be from the business / corporate sector, it's hard to say how many of them will bite unless their employer is the one signing the contracts.

Isn't this where Toronto based Crackberries post pictures of a line up ? or lack of one ?

It does seem odd. I haven't been too down on BlackBerry for marketing. I know that brand mind share takes time and changing mind share from a negative to a positive takes even longer, but this feels like a marketing misstep. The only reason I can think of is they didn't physically have enough stock ready to release everywhere. Which is another misstep.

It was in either a Heins or a Tear interview in the last few days that one of them explicitly stated the Toronto-first rollout was specifically to ensure they could properly manage availability. Sorry I don't have a link handy to whatever I read.

I don't know anything about the reality of how today went down, but here's an article quoting the Tear interview I mentioned: BlackBerry sees ‘absolutely phenomenal’ demand for Q10 | Toronto Star

"Tear said the release at retailers and on several mobile network carriers will start in the GTA and expand across Canada later in the week.

"He said the timing is to ensure supply amid absolutely phenomenal demand for the Q10 from users who prefer the ease of typing with a hard keyboard."

Seems to be hit and miss. People are reporting available some places other than Toronto - which is a good thing.
