So for Christmas my boyfriend is getting me a new blackberry. I've had my heart set on the red blackberry curve 8310 for a loooong time..it's just so gorgeous!!!! But I like to make ringtones...lots and lots of them, I also like to take lots of pictures and download themes....which makes my current pearl really slow. The curve 8900 has way more memory storage space (internal 256 MB, expandable 32GB) than the 8310 (internal 64 MB, expandable 4GB) and this is the ONLY reason why I'm also considering getting one of those. I think it's really nice, but there are a lot more cons in my 8900 list....but then again, the memory storage space!! arrrgh!!!! I've heard both good and bad things about both phones. (one that concerns me about the 8900 is that the back plate is really flimsy and doesn't fit well?) Any input anyone? I have until Saturday to make up my mind.12-09-09 04:02 PMLike 0 - What carrier are you with? A 9700 makes more sense if you're concerned over build quality. It's better built than the 890012-09-09 04:15 PMLike 0
- amazinglygracelessRetired ModI had an 8310 and currently have an 8900. For me this is not even a question.
Your mistake is in thinking the internal memory is a factor. It isn't. Get the biggest
memory card you can afford (I have a 16gb) and save all your pics, tones, vids,
music docs to it and you will have no issues. All I use the internal memory for is
applications (51 and I still have more app memory than the Bold 9000 has in total).
As to the battery door, this is a hit or miss proposition. My battery cover shifts a
bit but I use a case so it is a non issue. There are several quick fixes to this so
it is a minor concern IMO.
Now I got to get this crappy song out of my head........ curse you!!!!12-09-09 04:19 PMLike 0 - The 8900 is basically the Curve's older brother with more stuff gutswise, so I'd go with that over the 8300 series, personally. However, I will also agree with F29 and say Go Bold if ya can.12-09-09 04:22 PMLike 0

You can use up to a 32GB microSD card on OS 4.6 or higher. The 9700 has a 5.0 OS. There are no 32GB microSD cards on the market yet. So 16GB is the best available right now. SanDisk 32GB microSDHC Memory Cards Expected Soon; Which BlackBerry Will Support Them? | CIO - Blogs and Discussion That article was written in February 2009. June has come and gone and still no 32GB cards yet.12-09-09 04:34 PMLike 0 -

your tune. I find it to be better than the trackball but everyone has a different
cup of tea.12-09-09 04:47 PMLike 0 - So for Christmas my boyfriend is getting me a new blackberry. I've had my heart set on the red blackberry curve 8310 for a loooong time..it's just so gorgeous!!!! There is nothing "expandable" about it. It's either 64MB of OS/App space in one model or 256MB of OS/App space in the other. The media card cannot hold apps, just media (pics, ringtones, music, docs). That is all, nothing more, so... the memory is not per say "expandable". Just FYI.
That being said, go with the 8900... the 8310 isn't worth 10c anymore.12-09-09 11:19 PMLike 0 -
- Since no one touched on this point either, I believe that I will!
The 8900 also has a much larger, clearer screen than the 8310, as well as a better camera, 3.2 megapixel with auto focus! The native browser is also better than the one on the 8310 (which we all know isn't saying much). It's just a better all around device IMO.12-10-09 08:19 AMLike 0 -
- True, elvin. That's another pro...the screen resolution and the fact that it records video as well. Don't really like the fact that the trackball is black and smaller though....but I guess I can get used to that. Nubgen, I looked on ebay for red housing and I didn't like the ones I found...I did find some cool red cases though. Thanks for all the info guys. I think I'm gonna go with the 8900!!!!12-10-09 05:35 PMLike 0
