WATERLOO ? Three men were arrested after police found stolen BlackBerry phones and laptop computers in a Kitchener home on Saturday.

Security at BlackBerry contacted police in October 2013 about missing smart phones and laptop computers, said Olaf Heinzel, spokesperson for Waterloo Regional Police.

The investigation led detectives to a house on Fenwick Court. There, they found 75 BlackBerrys, seven laptop computers and $6,000 in cash, Heinzel said.

Three Kitchener men, ages 24, 31 and 32, were arrested and charged with theft over $5,000 and possession of stolen property.

Coming from Waterloo I found this kinda funny and thought I would share. Looks like maybe some employees aren't to happy about the recent layoffs.

And they say people don't want BlackBerry's anymore..
They stole from the company that has the most advanced mobile security to date, kinda funny :P

    Good job by the police!

    Wow! These guys were employees?
If so, they probably needed to get laid off.
There won't be any employee of the month placards for these guys.

    Good stuff.............

Haha. This is just around the corner from where I grew up. I've known a few people who have lived on that street.

Not sure where it said in the article that they were former BlackBerry employees? Though that is likely the most plausible explanation for how they got all that merchandise.

    No names listed unfortunately.

I know I was looking for a Z30 in KW on Kijiji. There was one guy who was putting up many listings, a 31 year old (I looked through Poster's Other Ads and one was a personal) and now I can't find that Z30 or any of the many other BB's he had on there.

Puts a bit of a chill in my search. I don't want to buy a stolen phone.

Edit: The postal code on that street looks familiar too. Not exactly sure if its the same one, but the end was Ex where x was a number between 1 and 9 (I'm assuming to allow multiple listings of the same product).

No it doesn't say any of them were employees, that just what my assumption was.
