I subscribed to a thread and now how do I stop getting emails for responses to those threads? I looked and can't find the unsubscribe to this thread button..

go back to the post you subscribed to, and then go to thread tools which is in the blue bar above the post, and you can unsubscribe from there.

If you want to stay subscribed to the thread, you can disable or change the number of emails you are receiving from that thread. Click User CP at the top of the page and then click List Subscriptions on the left menu bar. Next check off the box next to the threads you want to disable the email notifications for, click the drop down box next to Selected Threads: and select No email notifications. You will now receive no notifications from the given thread but remain subscribed to it incase you want to ever come back to it quickly from your subscribed threads list.
