Thoughts on BB10 phones...
So being a long time BB user and Playbook owner, I'm hoping that these new devices will be able to compete in the market and draw new subscribers. I have to admit that after having the Playbook for over a year (arguably a beta version of bb10) I'm wary that it will be able to deliver the speeds that todays consumers expect. Boot time is slow and opening the mail app is slow too by comparison. For email lovers we expect out inboxes to open instantly.
Regardless, the lagging eco system needs a lot of work and there lies the catch 22 of having enough subscribers to push developers. It'll be interesting to see android apps getting ported over but it will be great to have more native support.
I recently picked up a Nexus 4 to see what all the fuss was about and to experience pure android. It is an understatement to say that I was blown away. Just the shear speed of the device and ease of use, multitasking and productivity is amazing. No more hour glassing or freeze ups. Can't say this for other android devices...
There are definitely short comings on the email side but it has also thought me to slow down and not be obsessed with reading my emails as soon as it arrives in my inbox (which my bb didn't help). I guess I'm not as much of an addict any more but at the same time I don't feel any less connected with the world. As for typing on glass, I would say that holding the phone side ways actually makes me faster than on my 9900.
I can't wait for bb10 and hope it is everything and more that RIM has been saying it to be.

That is good to know. What about Google support though? I have multiple calendars that need to be synced and last I heard Google sync support was dropped.
I'm also hoping that device pricing will be competitive to lure in the potential adopters. I will probably stick with my nexus 4 until all the bugs and kinks are worked out in BB10. I suppose technically I'll be able to experience it on my playbook in the meantime.

BIS already supports google sync and I think since it will be using activesync (google doesn't support it nomore) it will still work.

Not for multiple shared calendars tied to one account. Only the primary.

Great points. BlackBerry HUB will always be there, one quick gesture away - remember! No opening an e-mail client & waiting for it to startup! :)
The 30th can't come soon enough.
