Don't know about others but the more I "get to know" the guy, the more I like him. Unlike other CEOs, he seems very down-to-earth and approachable to the consumer.
He's a p0rn star!
Heins is TOTALLY down to earth. A normal, good guy. Kinda the exact opposite of the Co-CEOs we had before. But kudos to the former CEOs for knowing to put in a guy like Heins. Really, really smart move.
He's really honest and enthusiastic and it shows. Thats probably the biggest problem investors had with the launch. He's not a snake oil salesman.
I felt sorry for you when you had your hair chopped Kevin. That was quite the mane.
This is Thor in his element, he will really shine throughout this aspect of promoting BlackBerry 10.
Looks like the media blitz is on... I love the crowd holding the BBM signs, pure awesome!
Thorsten is great but he is (evidently) not a great public speaker or has great stage presence. Maybe because English is not his first language. Jim/Mike were probably better speakers. Maybe Thorsten should have called Mike/Jim to do part of presentation?
He's not at his best on stage in front of crowds, but is fantastic in interview settings.
I think that was exactly the problem. Although I personally wouldn't call it a problem since I prefer an honest person like him over other snake oil CEOs. However, the mass investors and consumers are probably more taken to charisma, no matter how false it may be. Which is kind of sad.
The segment if you're interested.
Thorsten Heins on the Today Show - YouTube
It was nice to see Thorsten able to smile and laughing in the green room area. I'm sure his stress level had been immense leading up to Jan 30.
LOL, Matt is going to get flamed for calling it Droid....
This is really nice to see. A free 3 - 6 minute national commercial. Thor in his element in these settings for sure!
Thorsten is cool.
What a difference in responses to the same question "what went wrong"
"Have you stopped to analyze what went wrong"
It has more to do with how that question is presented. Most of the prior interviewers had a very disrespectful, condescending demeanor while Matt asked the question with a completely different undertone. Almost in a positive and certainly professional manner.
The interview was one of the better ones in which Thorsten has participated and the questions from the interviewers remained on point. All in all it painted BlackBerry in a positive light.
I have to agree. Thorsten performed very well in that interview. He looked very confident and took the opportunity to sell the great features of the BB10 to the audience. He seems to perform a lot better in those one on one interviews than in front of large crowds, but I am sure that given time he will get improve.
I absolutely love near the end when the topic comes to the Q10 QWERTY, the guy taks off his glasses and has that serious expression waiting for Thorsten's response. Hilarious!
I think that makes him more endearing (at least to me). He seems genuine, not polished or practiced. He comes across as someone who is believable.
I think he has a lot of charisma and does great.

Another example of the mans character.
I know some BBRY employees and back in june-july when all the news was nothing but complete horror, they were at the local watering hole after hours drowning their sorrows in a pint. And Thor shows up on his motorcycle and joins the table. Simply shares a beer with fellow employees when times are tough. Most small company bosses wouldn't even do that.
Thor rides a motorcycle ? nice ! :)
Thorsten just seems like an all around nice guy. I still think it's f_ckin awesome that he called Kevin and takes time to meet with Kevin and BlackBerry fans at events, because really, he doesn't have to pretend to be cool or nice as soon as the cameras stop rolling and he's done pushing his product on stage.
That's why that one CNBC interview a while ago was so enraging, where the guy in the studio cut Thorsten off at the end and said something to the effect of, "Good luck. You don't know that this [BlackBerry 10] won't work, but God bless you for trying." I remember looking at my computer screen, rewinding the video, just being angry at whoever that CNBC guy was, and even almost a little angry at Thorsten for letting him talk to him like that without sticking up for himself! It's just in my personality to not really let someone talk to me like sh!t for no reason, and especially to not let people talk to my friends like that for no reason either. And that's kind of what I feel like Thorsten is for us.. a friend of sorts. Someone cool, accessible, who's not some weasel trying to con us into buying a bullsh!t product so he can get rich(er), sell the company and retire.
and a REALLY nice Merc...seen him a few times in it around town.
no **** eh sick ride ! Thor is a great CEO by far ! id sit dwn any day with him and have a beer and shoot the sh1t
