    Hey all,
I am thinking about getting a second blackberry, just for fun. I'm thinking of one of the older ones, and want it unlocked so i can switch between my two berries. Do you guy have any suggestions on a good one to ebay?

    Thanks in advance!

Second that! 8700 is excellent, you won't be disappointed and they're like 30 USD on eBay.

Go with a 72XX, that's a true classic, especially the blue one.

True classic perhaps, but the 8700 with a 4.5 OS is actually very usable with modern applications and the like (though the 64MB get filled up very quickly).

I agree. The 8700 was a great blackberry. It was my first one. I looked around on ebay akao and noticed they were very inexpensive. Eventually purchased a used 8310 for my "back up". Truthfully, if all you use your bb for Is email and phone, it would be ok. Ultimately, I enjoyed having a camera on my bb and the 8700 doesn't have one.

When I switched over to Verizon, I used the 8703 so I could save my 2 year discount on the Storm 2. I actually loved it. Its afreaking tank, and even with the 4.2 OS (I believe) I ran all the apps I use now. Google Voice, Google Maps, Ubertwitter. Once you get the hang of the scroll whell, it's fun to use. And people always ask what the **** it is. lol I feel you about wanting something different. I recently purchased a Pearl Flip just to play with it. The only issue I had, with the 8703 and the Flip, is that if I am paying 30 bucks a month for a BB plan on VZW, I want all the use I can get from it. Internet, especially on the Flip, is limited. So after about 6 hours on the (very cool by the way) Flip, I reactivated my Storm. lol Just something to think about.

Just watch closely on ebay. Ask the seller if it for sure works. I have bought a few older BB's to play with and most of them were used on BES so they may have an IT policy. The available IT removal software doesn't work on the older OS. So you could end up with a paperweight.

The 8700 was a tank. No need for a case with that device. The 7900 was solid too. I had both and they were good.

I'd say the 7900 is more old school though. I still see a few 8700's out and about.

RIM releases a new device every month (even though there's really no difference), so the device you now will be old school by Jan.
