I have a small query which I couldn't really find an answer to.

Does using a theme other than default affect battery usage?

I've never tried a theme on the 9900, but my daughter's 9800 runs the "Impakt_Pink" theme, and matches my wife's 9800 in battery life.

I have heard of themes affecting the battery life. I think it depends on how it is built, depending on .svg coding, etc. I know that a theme could affect the memory, causing a leak, but I think that the battery could be affected as well.

Update: Disabled theme and went back to original, battery has improved substantially thus far.

I thougth the theme engine was broke on the new OS7 phones, thus themes weren't even available?

There's no Theme Builder for OS7, yet. But there are some manually creating themes. And, at least for the 9810, some really good ones. I'd expect there's good stuff for some of the others, too.
