Still, too many sites use flash. Flash isn't going away any time soon. Popular sites like Yahoo still use it. Majority of all underground streaming still use it.

The sooner people are unable to view those sites I bet the drop it pretty fast. As they rely on traffic

    So I just sent some Jacqui Lawson birthday cards from my Z30. Had to turn on Flash!!! I just renewed my subscription for 2 years. Does that mean I can no longer use my phone to access that web site? (after I install 10.3.1). :-{

    #3 Microsoft Office...I love office!

Just today, with the click of 3 buttons, I compiled 30,000 records, looping through the folders and sub-folders of 6 different engineer's R&D folders, sorted them, looked for duplicates, conditionally highlighted those duplicates, looked for them in our published drawings folder and generated a hyperlink to open the files and compare them. All it took was Excel, a little VBA work and an ActiveX buttons.

I am not sure about other office programs, but Microsoft Office saves me hours every week. I need it.
Well, Excel has always been a solid offering. If you are a power user (with VBA skills) it can do amazing things (that run on most vanilla office computers without any additional installations). I'm always amazed at people that do manual repetitive tasks in Excel,.. I imagine those people probably think it sucks.

You have it backwards. Adobe stopped developing mobile flash because the mobile industry pushed THEM out. In 2012, as video streaming apps became the norm (hulu, Netflix, youtube, etc), and html5 pushed through the 75% web video content threshold, Adobe realised that the mobile browser market was finished, and that it would not be a good business decision to keep developing it.

    No one forced anyone out

This is not a bar. No one is getting kicked out. Either there is support or there isn't. Netflix used silverlight and not html5 for its security as html5 wasn't even finished yet in 2012. This goes to many other services not using flash. Hulu wasn't using html5 in 2012 either. I believe they stuck to flash to the bitter end for its advertising controls. Just like YouTube

The only place flash has an advantage over html5 is in live streaming since html5 can't do it. Otherwise it is the future. Unfortunately until the adult industry switches the rest of the internet will be divided, as with most other things in net history. So goes porn, so goes the internet...

Running Flash can hardly be defined as a "basic function" on a mobile device when NONE of the mobile platforms support it.

I had it on my BlackBerries, it was supported for years on Android officially and with Firefox, you can still use the flash player unofficially.

Steve Jobs announced the death of Flash some 10 years too early.
There are still sites that require it to work correctly, and that won't change soon.
YouTube defaulting to HTML won't change that.
In BlackBerry's case I don't understand why they'd want to get rid of Flash though, as BlackBerry doesn't have access to the same entertainment apps iOS and Android have access to.

Anyhow, Flash was one reason why I wanted a BB10 device. And another reason why I don't have an iPhone but an Android as well.

Exactly!! I'm tempted not to download 10.3 when it arrives for this reason. I turn on Flash quite often and can do things my iPhone friends can't. Like sending the aforementioned birthday cards.
I use my laptop less and less to do stuff like that.

The BB 10.3.1 update is removing support for Flash. You'll have to use an HTML5 version of any app or website that formerly used Flash.
