I have a storm that is not unlocked. and I want to know what the AT&T service is like around my house because last I knew it SUCKED. (we may have to switch to AT&T because of my dad's work)

My question is. If i set my storm to GSM only, will the coverage indicator, accurately, show what kind of signal I would get if we were on AT&T?

I'm guessing you would need an AT&T SIM card or else you will
have no way of knowing. It would just show SOS or Insert SIM card

yes it just shows SOS. i have a verizon SIM card but thats all.

...and now that I think about it, you will also need to have the
GSM side of the phone unlocked to get it to even
operate on another carriers network.

go to Wireless, DSL Internet, Digital TV Services, and Phone | AT&T to test signal strength.
