Have not seen this posted yet, if it is, please disregard.

Telus Canada is offering an additional $50 trade in of your old phone towards a new Z10.

Also, it has been pointed out that they currently have an offer of $50 for a trade in of an old CDMA (non-sim) phone. So, an old CDMA phone will get you $100 toward a Z10, and you can sell your current phone privately.

I saw this but it might be worth just selling your existing phone on kijiji than trading it in. At least for my Galaxy Nexus.

Yeah I think they offer $75 for a Bold 9900, so I assume this $50 is in addition to that. Still only $125 but may be interesting to those who rather not go through the hassle of private selling.

9800 probably not. But I know someone would definitely pay at least $100 for a good working 9810 with charger/accessories.

I have an old Motorola Krzr sitting at the house, and they offered $50 for it (I called) .. just has to turn on (which means I have to charge the battery )

Telus told me I could trade in any phone for the $50 credit. The guy in store said that some of the phones he saw where "ancient" and "brick like".

Anyone tried to get this deal at another store that price matches like Best Buy or Future Shop? The Best Buy store where I had mine pre ordered said they wouldn't do it.

The offer has to be redeemed at a Telus store if I remember correctly, doesn't work at retailers like Best Buy. It's also stackable with the $50 CDMA promo going on right now. When you recycle an old CDMA phone you get $50 off the in store price and if it's toward a Z10 you get that extra $50 for a total $100 off in store. Any CDMA phone will do as long as it isn't damaged, physically or liquid, turns on, and has the back and battery. And yeah, it has to be redeemed when signing a contract, not the outright price.

This is interesting. Does the phone need to on your plan or can you trade in an old KRZR for example and keep the BB thats currently on the plan, and upgrade to a Z10?

This may depend on if the rep you talk to knows what he's doing, but the CDMA phone doesn't have to be on your account, it could just be an old not active one lying around as long as you upgrade to a Z10 and use it as your trade in.

Koodo is doing this too. They offered my $60 for my 9800. Would rather give it to a poor kid who needs BBM.

I can confirm that this is true. I brought in a couple of old CDMA phones (one of them was a Pearl) and both were eligible. The rep just entered the phone details on the computer and it said the discount would be $100. My contract is up in 6 months so would have to pay an additional $90 to upgrade now, or I could upgrade without the penalty in 2 months. The $100 discount will pay for the upgrade penalty and the new LTE SIM that I will need. I have til the end of the month to decide, but I may pull the trigger tomorrow .

Its not quite a "penalty". More like, they want you to finish buying out your device. Theres no such thing as free lunch.

^^ yeah the only reason they give you a free or early upgrade is because they already made lots of money off you and they want to continue to do so.
Anyway its a good promotion if you have an older phone laying around.
