I have a $15 a month plan and the limit is 5gb I do a lot of browsing. I don't watch videos or nothing like that. But I am just wondering is 5gb a lot or should I be watching how much I use it?

That is depended on you. Here is a good rule of thumb that several people have told me over the years. If you are on a site that has both video and audio (take "youtube") you do use more compared to just reading your email or browsing the Internet. I'm sure you will get others soon to give you their thoughts on the matter.
5 gigs is alot considering that most of the sites you visit on your phone default to a simple mobile version. You probably don't even use 5gb of bandwidth on your regular computer per month if you aren't downloading tons of music or watching 20 minute porn videos every single night. I'm sure there's an application out there to monitor your transfer stats..
