This is the best blackberry ever, and with future updates it can only get better.

Let's not start this again please.
I business travel extensively to the Northeast USA and Eastern Canada, both on and off the beaten track. I go to Europe once a year. After due diligence, CDMA coverage is better for me and Verizon has the only National plan with free roaming Canadian coverage in its Canada Plus plan. As much as I would love to own the BB Bold, I will have to settle for the Storm, but that's not so bad after all. Remember, a smartphone is first a cell phone and for that you need adequate coverage. Everything else is secondary.

Don't get it. First of all, you are looking more for media and internet, which the iphone (or Ipod Touch) does much better. The Storm as a phone is not that great; many have complained about the quality of calls on the device.

Don't take this the wrong way, but a Blackberry is not the device for a 16 year old; they excel at email and more of a business type user. To even use the internet on it, you will need to sign up for a data plan since there is no wi-fi.

In my opinion, have your parents get you something else.
That's Bullsh*t...... Phones are made to keep people connected. Business people and everyday people deserve to stay connected. IMO Blackberry's do it best. Yeah the Blackberry 8800 series are more business oriented but that doesn't mean only business users own them. If RIM only made phones for biz owners, they never would have made the Pearl, Pearl Flip, Storm or 8900. Everyone should own at least one Berry. As far as a 16 year old getting the Storm, lemme just say read the reviews. You may actually like the PearlFlip better.

I had the storm for a week. Please note the following:
1)I think new firmware will fix most of the problems including the lag issues. I was running .83 beta. Returned before .85 was leaked.
2)Battery life about same a iphone.
3)After a week bottom of screen stopped clicking. I used the paper trick behind the battery and got a partial click back.
4)I hope rim can fix the screen click issue. I think this is a major longevity issue for the phone.
    5)The phone is heavy.
In closing, I think the product needs some refinement. If rim fixes it I would definately get the phone again.

im 16 i have a storm and im lovin it. i am thinking i might return it but only because im used to a full qwerty and i used to have an enV and i flew on it. but if i return it i'll get a curve. maybe an enV 2 because my parents are making me pay half of the data plan and i cant afford $15 a month, i guess i can afford it but i dont want to spend the oney one it, all i got a BB for is messaging, web browsing and checking my E-trade account. the storm is sick for browsing, but i havent gotten used to the texting it slows me down soooooo much but hopefully i get used to it

Like people have said before me the storm seems like a beta device. I just can't get over the "glowing rectangle" around the screen. Not to mention the crappy OS.

I do believe that it will be better in time, thats why I decided to stay with RIM. No matter how bad the storm is it's still better than an Iphone, even if every computer that I own is a Mac or running Linux.

What "glowing rectangle?" My Storm doesn't have any "glowing rectangle" around the screen . . .

And the leaked .85 OS has been pretty solid, at least for me.

the best advice I can give you is to go play with one first, I personally don't like the touch screen here again that is just my personal feeling, but the smartest thing that can be done with a blackberry is to get a case for it no matter how old (or young) you are it will get dropped and you never want to let your new baby get scratched cracked or dented, (learned this one the hard way tear)
    This is all so true!

I don't think it's worth it at the moment. It's a great concept and idea and it's great to finally see it take life, but it's not as good as many people expected just yet.

I'm pretty sure the next generation Storm would be much better. Or better yet, the gossiped magnum might sound a better option.

    Thanks.
