I think half of the crackberry community has asked this at least once in the past two months. The answer is, nobody except for RIM and T-Mobile executives know. As it stands right now, Verizon has exclusive rights to the Storm dependent on them meeting monthly sales quotas as set forth by RIM. As soon as Verizon is unable to release that quota, it's open game and RIM has the authority to distribute the device to alternate carriers.

So the answer you're looking for just isn't there, and won't be for a while. Whether it's a Storm or a Storm-like device, one -will- come to T-Mobile...but "when?" is the question on everybody's mind. It probably won't be for quite a while...I'm thinking Q3 or later of 2009.

The Javelin is quite a nice device though...that should be available to us very soon now.

If you are thinking long range (and providing your thinking is tech driven, rather than value driven) you really should come to the dark side for the Storm until TMO gets their HSDPA issues nailed down. Right about the time you're contract will be ending with the evil empire, TMO should have their 4G bands up and working. GL!

At the rate the Storm is going VZW will loose the exclusive by the end of the month - :P

I heard it suppose to be coming to AT&T next year, and read today that it could be January. I highly doubt it will be that soon though.

Also the AT&T one should have Wi-Fi.

They need to lease a few more towers and get some coverage first.

Drive down to Ft AP Hill, VA and turn off of rt 301. That is one of many places that them and every other GSM provider loses it.

Go to Wisconsin and apart from Milwaukee and maybe a couple cities near the MN border, you will not get EDGE, which is super annoying. I am contemplating switching to at&t because of that. So far I'm getting along using UMA to retrieve my emails.

I called Tmobile this past weekend to inquire as to what the charge would be for early termination on my account. I was considering switching to Verizon or AT&T. When she asked me why I explained that I wanted a COOL touch screen phone like the Iphone or the Storm. She said I should be patient that Tmobile will be getting the Touch Screen Blackberry in the first quarter of 2009.... She said she didn't have a firm date, but she knew that it was coming soon! Thought I would pass that information along..

yet, everytime i call and ask about the release of the BB Javelin/8900, available from T- Mobile Germany, England etc, they've never even heard of it, don't know what i'm talking about, like i invented the new BB and model number out of thin air. Like they're living under a fat technology deflecting rock...
All this to say that reps, especially phone reps as they're not looking u in the eye, are dirty liars who don't know squat...

I have to agree. I'm liking what I'm seeing with the Javelin. It seems to be taking the known functional reliability of the Curve and pushing it past the envelope. Maybe in time!!! Meanwhile I'm really not that interested in the Storm at this time... at least not the way it's working!!!!

Well only if you don't care about having reception in other parts of the world, e.g. the entire European mainland. Tmobile works there, Verizon does not unless you have one of their very few dual CDMA/GSM phones.

I was recently talking to a tmo rep and she did say that they would be releasing a BB touch screen phone but it would also have a full qwerty keyboard similar to the curve or bold but with a touch screen. The date she quoted me was Q4. No one hold your breath!

the storm won't come out for tmobile, however people have unlocked it and have it working on tmobile.

As for the 'pluto' (or magnum) which is a storm-bold mix, it is possible it would go to tmobile, but doubtful because its such a small carrier. Unless it wasn't exclusive that is.

Amen to that!!! I live in the sticks of Maine and always have at least 3 bars. 5 bars at home. Plus T-Mo just put up 8 new(3G!!!) towers round here. Soon even Maine will have 3G. Alaska however is S.O.L.(Are there even cell phones in Alaska? I bet Palin finds them way too blasphemous and outlawed them. Or she probably just can't figure them out. Haha
