    Hello.

    I'm on Telus, so Google Maps doesn't work with the internal GPS on my Storm. But, I have an Bluetooth GPS device paired with the Storm, have the GPS settings (in Options/Advanced/GPS) set to use the Bluetooth GPS, so I'm wondering if anyone know if it's possible for Google Maps to work with an Bluetooth GPS?

    I can launch BBMaps and it utilizes the Bluetooth GPS, but when I'm using Google Maps, it just says "waiting for GPS" and eventually "GPS temporarily unavailable", just like it did when it tried to use the built-in GPS.

    I've read a lot of postings about Google Maps and the Storm and I always thought the problem was the carrier not allowing Google Maps to access the aGPS, so I assumed using my own Bluetooth GPS would work?

    Anyone have any insight into this?

    You don't specify the GPS puck you are using, but it sounds like you have the same problem that I have with Google Maps and my Freedom Keychain 2000 GPS puck. Google Maps is not able to start the GPS on the puck or keep it from timing out. The puck requires a regular acknowledgement from the device, or it goes into battery-saver mode and drops the bluetooth connection. Google Maps is unable to provide this acknowledgement. Blackberry Maps can. So if I want to run Google Maps, I have to start Blackberry Maps first, let it sync with the GPS, then exit it without closing it and start Google Maps. If I do this, Google Maps will run with no problem.

    that is weird because on 9530 google maps connects to my internal gps just fine and I don't have to connect to bb maps first either

    Out of the box my gps settings were set to "E911". Make sure you go to Options>advanced options>Gps and change the option to "location on". The storm isn't locked to verizon for gps. You should be able to use gps on any carrier I think...

    Uh oh, Google Maps was interfacing just fine with the phones GPS data before installing .148, but I installed .148 this morning, and now I get "Waiting for GPS", and then after some time, "GPS Temporarily Unvailable". I verified that GPS Services is configured to Location On.

    I use the GPS data almost daily both through Google Maps, and Weatherbug (which can no longer determine my "Current Location" as of today).

    I wonder if V disabled GPS with this OS release? That would be a serious bummer. I wonder if the camera is still able to geotag photos?

    I could be wrong here, but I'd bet your photos will still geotag, and GPS will work in BBMaps, because they're both "default" carrier apps (and thus utilize the aGPS). But, things like weather bug and google maps, etc. can only access aGPS with carrier permission (and Telus doesn't give that), so they rely on the (crappy) triangulation only. Again, I could be wrong...
