He's probably related to the person who decided to put 8 minutes of TV commercials in a 30 minute show. I suppose companies want to get paid for providing something the same as you or I. I would be perfectly happy to opt out by paying directly. I hope that's an option.

I don't really find them that bad, but that's probably because they're all BlackBerry related, or at least directing me to another companies channel. I don't want sponsored ads directing me to outside websites to buy crap.

I just noticed that you can tap the message and choose to block that sponsor but I assume that would be like killing one mosquito at a time.

Root it, install ad blocker for apps, carry on with life.
(yes you just devoided a dev of some $. If he/she doesn't have paid app, I wouldn't have a problem with that though, since I hate ads.)

It's easier for the browser though:
Install Firefox, then install the ad blocker add on and Ghostery.
Enjoy browsing without seeing 4/5 of the ads you would have seen before.

How do you achieve that on a BlackBerry phone?

They don't bother me at all. I've blocked a couple to try it out but not anymore. For those who don't like seeing them maybe this will be a part of the premium features. Pay x amount and it will be add free plus timed message.
