Had the same error message- SOS. Turns out, I had dropped my phone causong my SIM to move (slightly) up in the card slot. I pushed it down and EDGE was back. Lol. Good Luck

Both my phones do the same thing when im in the house. It says searching for network and sos.. I walk outside and it goes right back to gprs ( dont get egde here). One phone is brand new and never has been dropped. Both sim cards are new too. I just thought it was a service issue since they work perfectly outside and it only happens at my home...no where else.
