I remembered the minidisc. It is a fine piece of technology, still use it after 13 years and it's still running and can run for days on its AA-battery.

I personally think Microsoft/Nokia will be next to go. Huawei is currently attacking the Asian markets with high spec phones for $300 and it is selling them directly via its website.

Never underestimate a Horde, especially if they can build stuff for cheap

Microsoft will not go. They have far too much money to go under, unlike SONY which has been bleeding money for some time so it's not odd to see them trying to restructure.

A BlackBerry Sony merger or alliance (think Renault-Nissan) would do wonders for both. BlackBerry would cover the work and security side of things, Sony would do the play+entertainment side.

It'd help BlackBerry step foot in Japan again too.

Sony would reduce their reliance on Google and could even leave the OHA

So imagine a phone with BB10 + Walkman + PlayStation +Sony camera with all the perks being part of both Sony and BlackBerry would provide.

It's funny, I actually teased my friend the other day because he used to have ALL SONY products in his apartment, and they all had to be silver..when I asked if he still had Sony, he gave me this look and said, "hell no". I was taken by surprise, then noticed his Samsung cell phone and immediately knew what happened..Samsung has kicked Sony in the nuts and took it's lunch money lol!

While I agree with all of you guys, but one can't deny the quality of Sony, the stuff they built and the stuff they have will always be in good memory. One can't forget the days when every one had walkmans, those days I will never forget.

Who said he bought it?!? A year ago I went into Radio Shack for a BB battery, and found out they were $80+! Do you think I bought it, knowing they are like $10 on Amazon?? Absolutely not..I walked right out and ordered 2 on Amazon.

I did buy it. I had no other choice, it's not like someone else is producing a memory card for PS VITA, doesn't mean I like it.

Have been using Sony products since their first television foray in India. Currently have a Bravia and a Blue Ray dvd player and recorder.
It's a legendary company I could bet on their quality as it has always been the best. Never had any issues what so ever in all these years of using their products. Wife uses a Sony Experia Z3 and she absolutely loves it. She has been using it for more than a year now. It's really sad to see them taking such a decision. I know I will always continue to buy their products until they exist.
Samsung is suffering because of their policies and the kind of products they make. Sony has always been different. I hope they still can be back in electronics one day. Will always route for them.

You won't have to replace that Sony blu ray every year.
I have several including the first one Sony came out with years ago. I still have my Sony CD player I bought 23 years ago. Works great when I use it. My Sony Bluetooth over the ear headphones working great after 5 years. Which is one of the reasons I bought my Z3 Compact. I am sure they will get things sorted. Their android devices are very nice to use. Bad marketing here in the US. Had I not read a review on Android Central, I would have never looked at the Z3 or Z3C.
