I just received a replacement BB Curve to replace an older one which finally died, a process I've gone through a few times in the last 5 or 6 years, nothing new. While trying to change some of the default options, I ran across a new problem that I cannot seem to solve.

I want to hide Sent messages and turn off Delete confirmations from the Messages screen, so as usual I went to Options-->General Options, changed the appropriate settings, and hit Save which didn't produce any errors or indicate any problems. However upon returning to Messages, sent messages (with the check box) are still present, and I am still prompted to delete all items. Back on the General Options screen, the options reverted back to their default (undesired) settings. I went back and tried again, tried a hard reboot, the usual things and none of them worked. I tried to change some of the other settings on that page and most seem to save/change successfully.

I called VZW Support and they said it was likely either a defective device or a policy on our corporate Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES). I know its not the latter because it's never been an issue on any prior device, and other users have no issues changing those settings. And normally when their is a corp policy, the options are either removed/invisible or not modifiable. I confirmed with corporate security that they dont have any such policy in place to block those changes. They recommended a hard wipe/reset of the device, but due to corp. policy I cannot do this and it would take over a week.

Any other thoughts on why these options (Hide Sent Messages, Confirm Delete) cannot be changed? Or recommend another way to do them?

It might help if you tell us what device you have and what OS version you are using. My Verizon Tour with OS works like you expected yours to work. I'm a BES user as well. My normal settings are don't hide Sent Messages and do prompt for delete, but I changed them and verified that sent message were hidden and deletes were unprompted.

An OS reinstall might solve the problem. I haven't read of it anywhere before, and have no other suggestions since a battery pull reboot didn't fix it.
