I did contact AT&T and was only able to get to a customer service supervisor's supervisor. I was told that AT&T has a lot of phones to test and she had no idea when they would be announcing any pre-order dates. She also stated there was no phone number or way that I could let some one in "higher management" know that I was extremely upset with them. She said I would get a call or an email from them when the pre-order date is announced. I spent 40 minutes on the phone trying to talk to someone higher up. I spent much time searching all different search engines trying to find a direct phone number to top management in AT& T wireless.

There is a good/plausible theory about why the US carriers are late with the phones (can't remember who posted it):
    1. Limited production
    2. US carriers (perhaps just one or two main ones -- VZW and ATT) -- played hardball on the hardware price negotiations basically trying to wait out a desperate RIM and drive down the price.
    3. RIM went ahead allocated the limited supply to all the willing carriers.

Sounds about right to me. All the "carrier testing" stuff could just be a diplomatic way to save face for the carriers now that it is clear they've messed up. And while RIM could call them out on it, that would probably not be wise.

All speculation, but makes a lot of sense.

Hmmm. OK I'll tune in. Personally I think the availability of BB10 should have been made available worldwide concurrently, not just in any particular country. It would have been nice to be able to get one's hands on the Z or Q model right after Super Bowl, but, hey, a wait of another 4 weeks ain't going to hurt anyone.

I'm am American, and I agree with the OP; at least as far as those BB fans/supporters in the States who "are ready to walk" or "give up" because they didn't get what We'v all Wanted right away. Frustratd? fine, bummed out? sure. But "ready to walk" by some? Really?!! Life is so incomplete without this new phone you'll turn your back on this new product? Get over your bad selves! Its 6 weeks-- whether planned or not, plenty of posts point out a) could be a carrier issue; b) could be first run production run went the way of "first on board" carriers; c) could be a wonderful break since release of the BB10 phone on 2/1 in the US w/o all the right apps could lead to ugly stories of "returns" by unhappy new US purchasers.... few markets are more fickle than this one.
The phone was never promised to be available on 1-30 in the States; and if one followed the major carrier sites, over the last few weeks, not a one said they would have it on 1-30. Here's a thought - let the kinks get worked out so that the US gets release 1.1 (not 1.0) and use the phone you have for....oh 6-7 more weeks.

Agreed. Let's get on with talking about the phone and how all the issues and missing apps will be resolved and out before the US launch.

I thank those of you who have the phone and are running into issues posting them and when found the solutions I will put the information to good use when I get mine. (If it's not obsolete by then)

OP, would it be more to your liking that those of us who have to wait were so little enthused that we would say simply "OK, no biggie?"
Actually, this excitement over a device is EXACTLY what BB needs. The alternative reaction from a hardcore user base would be TERRIBLY worrisome.

I'm a American, I'm disappointed that people arent able to buy the phones right now, but I knew it was going to be a wait for America just because none of the carriers had any information about it for me. I usually have press releases, and review units for a couple of weeks before the device goes on sale. That's how we are able to get reviews done and ready for the day a device goes on sale. So I was thinking it would be at least 3 weeks after the 30th till they launched in America. Wasn't expecting this long of a wait though.

I will say (and I know its kinda mean of me) I find all of the count down people on twitter very funny. My time line went from a mass of BlackBerry Beliebers with special display photos tweeting each day left till launch to all of them belly aching as soon as the news broke.

People really thought they'd be able to buy a phone right after the launch. Instead they spent weeks counting down the days till they could watch the same presentations they've been showing for months and see Alicia Keys get awkwardly kissed by Thorsten. BlackBerry really knows how to build up excitement and then underwhelm everyone. Its almost as if they do it on purpose.

You had me fooled. I thought that's exactly what you were doing. Anyway I always let a month go by to see what the reports are from the bleeding edge before I buy. So Blackberry is doing that for me. I hope and expect the users who get their phones first will chime in constructively so I know if I should wait a little longer for the bugs to work out or plunge right in, like I did with the 9930. No regrets on that one. Now that I think about it Im going to miss my 9930 no matter how good the Q10 is. Although Google Sync has been going after my battery lately.

I would be a little miffed if I was an American too; having to wait for the phone. However, the American market is huge, and to be honest the OS is net new, I think BB wants to iron out some bugs and get a few more apps in place before "invasion USA" They need to hit the beach hard, any mistakes will cost BB dearly in that market. I honestly think the UK and Canada are the USA's beta testers.

I think it is great that people are pumped about this phone.

Hi, my name is Queue. I still have every BlackBerry I've owned, and actually do not have any intentions of rushing out for BB10 too soon. I love BlackBerry and have emotionally loved every BB i've had. I love BBOS! I'm American too. Oh my, I am so proud of RIM 2.0 but I can happily wait till next year for BB10. Good day everybody!

I'm sure I'll be flamed for this but thats fine.

I have been amused/horrified by the reactions of a lot of US Blackberry 'fans' in the wake of the BB10 launch.

So, you have to wait a couple of weeks for a mobile phone and the world ends? I mean c'mon. Just because you live in the US, that doesn't make you the center of the universe. The idea that americans should get things first sort of insulting to the other 6-7 billion of us. And, BTW the argument about the importance of the US market is silly. BlackBerry has been a virtual non-factor in the US for a while now. Their biggest markets are in other countries. So, it makes sense that they might want to hit those markets first, doesn't it?

Now, I have no problem with Americans. I have quite a few dear friends in the US. My personal belief is that it really should have been a global launch. But it wasn't, and pitching a fit over it like spoiled toddlers wont change it.
As an American, I am upset. I'm upset because I feel like I'm "owed" BB10 at the same time or before everyone else. I'm upset because there were signs that pointed to a sooner time table as to when I would get one. Personally I'm thrilled for those who already have it and will be getting it sooner than I will. Because I'm upset that I have to wait potentially until April to get mine doesn't make me a spoiled toddler. I think you are painting all of us with the same brush.

I dream of the day people who live in the USA call themselves NORTH-AMERICANS...

AMERICA is a CONTINENT. Therefore, AMERICANS are the people who live in AMERICA (north, central and south america).

ONTOPIC: I agree that launchings should be worldwide at the same time.

You are 'owed' nothing unless it is something for which you have already paid. Feeling a little entitled there? Holy cow.

Me too, but Rim did give us the Q1 timeline. It was the sunshine pumping fanbois who got us all wound up for the letdown. Now we wait. Bummer and it sucks but not much can be done.I know when this phone does come out if it is not everything I think and hope it should be I will return it and move on. Lots of good phones coming out at that time from Sony and Samsung, this one needs to be right.
