Tomorrow I am meeting a guy to hopefully buy his 9650 =) Looking to get hooked on the bb experience inexpensively w/o using my upgrade so I can use it on bb10 !!! Any words of wisdom or advice are appreciated, I know os6 is nothing like bb10 but hopefully enough to get the idea. You all got me hooked from a distance listening in on forums and CB articles =)

Just go deep inside the CB forums and see all the good things that are BlackBerry related.. There are many great apps and you just need to shortlist them..

Any insane amount of small tiny things that are within the OS system.. Even OS6 for that matter.. you need to find your own 'flow' in true BlackBerry words!!!

I presently roll with the 9650 and have for a couple years now. I can only say that the web browsing isn't exactly fast, but certainly adequate. As long as you are smart about what kind of stuff you install, and generally take care of it, it won't let you down.
    I hope you love it.

Cool! Any particular reason why you chose a 9650 and not a newer OS 7 device?

Funds may be the issue as to why Op is getting a 9650.

Prepare to invest the time to understand and learn about your device and you will reap the benefits. So well worth it; the more I learn the more I love my BB

Is the phone you're getting pretty new/unused? You'd want to make sure it doesn't have a blacklisted IMEI/ESN. This can happen if the phone is a stolen item, not adequately paid for, or if it was meant to be a test unit not meant for sale. Such blacklisted phones end up being nice paperweights, nothing more.

A quick test to make sure everything is in order with the phone would be to get its PIN and have a BB owner you know (friend/family) message it via BBM.

Sorry to cr*p on this thread, but I thought I should put this out as a 'buyer beware' notice.

Got it! =) So fun, yet so many questions; I want to know it all now but the discovery process will be enjoyable.

The guy said it was wiped, I hope it was. First thing I did was update the os to current.

One question I do have, it has a sim card in it. . . is that specific to the guy who sold it to me? Do I have to get my own? When I went to do contacts it asked me if I wanted to copy the contacts from my sim card so it made me wonder if he has stuff on there. I haven't activated it yet as I am doing stuff via wifi for now.

Just ordered an otterbox commuter too

You will have to get you own sim card. One from your carrier to be exact.
